Red bull perhaps a bit too confident in themselves here.

RBR in trouble? i.e. may miss last session at this pace

In a long time ago on a far away country* people - the faithful - were in dread of the dark lords all conquering armies destroying/sweeping aside all resistance in their annual campaign.

Caterham looking very silly this season, all that extra money yet it's Marussia who are almost onto the pack. Very very impressive from a team that has struggled across the years.

Race set-up for RBR perhaps? Vettel is easily 1.5s from the time he set in FP3. P15 in Q1.

Q1 and Q2 with soft tyres. In Q3 with hard tyres:
-Start with hard tyres.
-New hard tyres for 1. and 2. pitstop
-New soft tyres for 3. pit stop near the end of the race

I'm completely confused. The comments have been that the RBR's have looked very impressive on circuit, particularly the quick stuff. What on earth is going on?

I wonder if RB they're thinking about conserving tires every lap - did what they needed there and got through Q1

Ros and Alo on hards, and now they have one set with +5 laps. I wonder how that will play out tomorrow :\

In turn, now they have all three fresh sets of softs. The other teams must either risk having only one chance for the remaining sessions or going into Q3 on hards. Which may also be a strategical gamble.

They're protesting the cheesy tyres by going deliberately slow.

They are saving the hard ones for the race people.

1 fully pushed lap > 3 laps a second slower, in terms of tyre wear?

So much going on RBR is nowhere Force India is fastest McLaren seems to be improved a lot etc etc. Let'see how it pans out in Q2. It is strange some teams decide to use medium tyres from Q1.

You don't conserve tyre's doing 2-3 quali laps like both Vettel and Webber did, if they had gone out and nailed it, that would have saved the tyre's much better.

But there were 50 sec left, so why didn't they fuel him to go right to the line?
Oh well..Another disappointing weekend for Williams

This. They were concerned whether they would be enough tyres to last the race, although that was obviously hyperbole from Vettel.

We saw how a front row lock-out means peanuts in the race. We'll see how much effort they'll make in qualifying at all.

RBR did IMHO used the s*** tyres to get into Q2, arguably to save some less horrible tyres so at least is my hope. Maybe they did indeed invest all into getting the harders to work on the long runs...

We will see.

Probably that was the plan. Go out for a quick lap without destroying tyres and hoping that it is enough.
