Rosberg just can't catch a break, had the pole for the taking in both qualis before the conditions changed.

Silly Mercedes not bringing in their drivers to change tyres- this is why Ferrari and RB are the best teams. They think on their feet and make quick decisions.

38th pole, a job very very well done. A nod also to the sky as it did what I hoped for. ;)

OR Hamilton saves his best for when it matters (Q3/Race) and Rosberg just can't match him ultimately.

Yeah, sure.

I mean Hamilton is great, super fast and whatever you want to hear, but we instantly have the first posters here describing Rosberg as "poor" and "can't match Hamilton", because he lost in a very wild Q3 after looking better in Q1 and Q2.

Was Lewis the fastest on one set of intermediates or did he also go for a new set?

Because Hamilton and Vettel know that Q1 and Q2 don't matter. Vettel kept everything for Q3.

He was the fastest on one set. Should have come in to get a second set.

+1

But even in the dry, I think Seb has what it takes to take pole. But obviously it will be a close fight between him, Webber, Rosberg and Hamilton.

True, it's down to having a fresh set of tyres too!

Although kudos if it was his decision, mark certainly didn't sound happy about something mind.

I don't understand how RB does it to timed Vettel perfectly in q3 last run to always have him be the last driver to cross the line. Track was obviously getting faster and faster

Rosberg could have beaten if it stayed dry, he was looking much faster, but of course yes Lewis saves it for the last but even then there were some significant gaps between these two in both Q1 and Q2.

New inters proved the right decision, so a bit dissapointing from Räikkönen then, who along with the top3 did go for a new set.
....but, he won from seventh in Melbourne as we all know.

Vettel did an amazing lap, and Massa beats Alonso again!

Fourth and sixth for Mercedes is OK, but had they too pitted for fresh inters I think they could've been up there, atleast looking at Hamilton's best lap.

Button and Perez eigth and 10th, better than Melbourne but surely they thought more would be possible once all had to run inters?

Sutil and Force India, well done. Shame about DiResta.

Things looks improved for Williams too, but they blew it in Q2 by not going out right away.

Bianchi  again!

Can I just say how delighted I am that Sebastian did his "yes, yes, yes..."? He sounded so delighted!

As my channel's presenter says: his 38th pole and he sounds just as joyful as it was his first. I am hoping tomorrow is a full wet race (come on Monza 2008!) and Sebastian will have a great time.

Unbelievably fortunate for vettel there - if that rain in q2 had held off for about another 2 minutes there's a strong chance he would have gone out. Merc, FI and Ferrari seemed to have very strong pace in the dry. Should be a cracker tomorrow. What's the weather supposed to be doing?

Massa and Hamilton crossed the line after Vettel this time. In fact, Hamilton was the last by quite a margin so there was the space if anybody wanted to use it.

The gains of making the right strategy call (new tyres) far outweighed the gains by being out a little later.

I have a feeling that Vettel's car has quite a good deal more wings than everyone else what with him miles behind in the dry and miles in front in the wet.

Oops, bad news for Räikkönen there, with hydraulic woes, which often means gearbox probs.

Webber pissed at being fifth, and if he'd gunned a little harder on the outlap and prevented Räikkönen passing him, he wouldn't have wasted his first timed lap, and then also had time to go for another set of inters....
