Anyone hear Webber's downcast "Unbelievable" over the radio? Think he was talking about Seb's lap...

Except for Massa. And Hamilton?

RB's superior downforce level shows in difficult conditions.

Same here. Ferrari's cars always start amazingly well.

Was Lewis the fastest on one set of intermediates or did he also go for a new set?

He was the fastest on one set.

Webber on the team radio "Unbelievable", I wonder what that hinted too.

it could be one of 2 options:

- not pitting to get a new set of inters
- not getting over the line in time for another lap

I would guess it is no.2 as he would have pitted for a new set of inters without setting a time, which would have been too high of a risk

I mean Hamilton is great, super fast and whatever you want to hear, but we instantly have the first posters here describing Rosberg as "poor" and "can't match Hamilton", because he lost in a very wild Q3 after looking better in Q1 and Q2.

 Some of the comments are ridiculous.

Well done Felipe

Anything can and probably will happen tomorrow but so far so good

So did Massa.

And it's a compliment that Vettel/RB chose a better strategy than the others who didn't pit.

Regardless of speed, Vettel's strategy (or his race engineer) was absolutely spot on. Very useful in quick changing conditions.

He is always last driver crossing the line .... Track was getting faster. Perfect timing

Vettel was not the last driver crossing the line. Massa was after him, and Hamilton could have gotten another lap in.

Good job Vettel, convincing pole, its not all about the car!
Massa did well to beat Fernando again, he´s driving like in the good old days.

If it´s a dry race tomorrow I would say Fernando is the biggest favorite for the win, if its a wet race then Sebastian.

Rosberg with no luck since he looked very promising in the dry but that's how it goes sometimes.

Vettel 38th pole, that's ridiculous and he's not even in his prime yet.

Sebastian's. Team radio stated Rocky asked Sebastian what he wanted, he said he wanted new inters.

Hamilton did have another go, he crossed about 2sec to go but he had older tyres...

I don't think I saw Ferrari drivers coming in for a new set of tires like Vettel did.

He was not the last one. Hamilton was. Vettel crossed the line 30 or 40 seconds to left.

Or Vettel getting the perfect strategy where as he just has to deal with it.

The final grid is amazing, it makes me incredibly excited to watch the race tomorrow.

I really hope Massa and Alonso are allowed to race each other into T1 because their starts are usually awesome, and I wonder how Vettel will do in the race, since his FP times and Q1 times in the dry weren't that great.

Vettel admitted that his setup approach for Q was for wet conditions. It was the reason why he was suffering during Q1 and Q2.

Interesting; I thought actually that in dry conditions, barring some insane ambient heat conditions and as long as tire holds up, Alonso's theory how fast RB actually is would be put in test. If Alonso is right, Seb should then disappear into distance.

Edit: now I am learning that he is on the wet setup.

Def number 2, confirmed in interviews by Mark and Horner, he backed off too much and let lewis past in the process.

Mind you, Lewis's lap showed it was unlikely he would have improved anyway.

Vettel was also the fastest before tyre change... So, he was just the fastest under these conditions - nothing to do with the time he passed the line...

But I think it's crazy if they really went for wet setup when everybody else didn't. We'll see.

What does "these conditions" mean? Do you mean changing or static? I assume you mean changing conditions as that is what was happening and therefore, as history has shown, last man passing the line has the advantage when conditions are changing to the better. You don't even have to go too far back in time to see this.

Go one week ;) Got over the line with a second to spare and was able to not even required to do the last lap to make him faster.

Andy

Was Hamilton last over the line? I believe Massa was the last on fresh inters.

I wonder if Perez is there too. He was slow as a snail on the braking line, blocking Hulkenberg.

Oops, bad news for Räikkönen there, with hydraulic woes, which often means gearbox probs.

Webber pissed at being fifth, and if he'd gunned a little harder on the outlap and prevented Räikkönen passing him, he wouldn't have wasted his first timed lap, and then also had time to go for another set of inters....

Yep. His mistake was backing off to give himself room for a flyer & Kimi just drove around him. Maybe he didn't think Kimi would do that.
