Lots of threads about the controversy behind it, but I read very little about the actual on track action. I thought it was fantastic! It was very clear Vettel was never gonna back down, letting his emotions get the better of him, and it was also clear Webber wont ever play dead for no one. A rare sight you see teammates battle it out so tough. They both made some really daring moves, and thought Vettel almost lost control of his car a few times. Regardless whether you think Vettel was right or wrong (or Webber being overly dramatic on it) my question is: did you actually enjoy the on track fight?

No, because it wasnt a fair fight. I dont mind them battling, but on the understanding that all things are even stevens and both drivers understand the rules.

I said it earlier today, but Vettel's like the kid at school who only picks a fight with the guy with a broken arm.

To me it wasnt looking like Webber was disadvantaged in any way. I thought: this is the stuff I watch f1 for, and FIA should do everything to make sure it happens much more. Absolutly outstanding stuff from both of them.

Undoubtedly enjoyed it. Was just fist pumping all the way through those sequence of corners where they were alongside before Seb just bombarded ahead.

Yes, Seb shouldnt have defied the team orders. But the team orders aside, it was just purely brilliant racing between both drivers.

As someone not being so delusional that Webber 'was crippled' (and just happened to set his fastest lap of the race), I loved it. That's what you watch Formula One for, especially considering the **** Red Bull had given Vettel earlier when he was not allowed to overtake. When else is he supposed to fight for the win?! There can be a lot of good reasons for teamorders, but the TWO teamorders Red Bull gave Vettel today, in combination, were utter bullshit. I'm glad Vettel went for it; the situation with Mercedes was just disgusting.

If Mark was really on low revs vs Seb's full revs then it would have been over before turn 1. Seb saved his best tires for the last stint, thats it.

Webber had turned his engine down in accordance with team instructions. Vettel obviously hadn't!

Webber could have run Vettel wide on the exit of the last corner during their battle and hung him out to dry or collide, but he didn't. He gave him room - something I expect he's regretting now!!!

I have to say it was great racing, and it's led lots of intrigue and drama. (Almost) exactly what F1's about!

I loved it, it reminded me why I love F1. My respect for Vettel has gone up as well, his main WDC rival was out of the race and he wanted to maximize the point gab while he could, I do not blame him at all for going for the race win, any top driver would do the same.

Proof? I see this speculation a lot with no proof at all.

Look at the live grand prix thread. The same guys who are bashing Vettel now cheered at him doing those moves.

And honestly I can't hear this turned down **** anymore. They were fighting for a good 2 laps before he made the move stick. Time to up your engine, hum?

For all we know Vettel was saving fuel as well, but his tire advantage played right into his hands.

Right, that's why he was just as fast through the corners and on the straights.
Because he had his engine turned down :rotfl:

And so we very quickly get around to discussing the same points in a new thread.

Please use one of the existing threads to discuss this incident.

As other posters have commented: if his engine really was turned down, it would be over in a few corners or at least on the straights. Coming out of the pits like Webber youd need full race power to speed up. As for Webber sholdnt give him room: thats why many rate Webber as one of the best wheel to wheel racer in the field, probably also one of the reasons he still has a contract at Red Bull. The guy is just fantastic, breathtakingly skillfull, with matching size of balls. I hope Seb and him make up and keep on keeping on.
