In Red Bull team orders row: Horner plans further talks with Vettel, your esteemed F1 editor Jonathan Noble writes:

The Malaysian GP incident is not the first time that Webber and Vettel have come to blows. The pair famously collided at the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix and then came to blows over the use of a front wing at the British GP later that year.

Usage no.1 said "idiomatic way of saying Had A Disagreement" to me, but repetition made me think there was actual punching. Since they'd hardly be the first racing drivers to come to blows literally and/or metaphorically I thought I wouldn't assume that this never happened.

Did Mark and Seb get a bit of Stewart/Logano going over the front wing?

It was the catalyst for the 'not bad for a number 2 driver' comment from Webber after winning that race. Redbull took two new wings to the race. Vettel broke his in free practice, so they removed the wing from Webber and gave it to Vettel.

"Came to blows" is just an expression, If they really HAD come to blows over Frontwingate, it would have been all over the media and the internet.
Although why Webbo hasn't punched out Sebby Boy's lights long since is mystery to me. I would have, and I'm not even Australian.

"Swung handbags at each other" is an expression. "Coming to blows" is a description. In this case, an inaccurate one.

Mr Noble usually does better.

BRG

I'll suggest a reason: the Hippo probably knows that if he actually struck the three-time champion, he'd be off the team.
