In March I put £10 each way on Vettel to win WDC at 11/2. I feel pretty hopeful!

Had vettel pole
Vettel Win
Max Win

At least I had pole but max should have won that race though was totally speculative as difnt expect it to happen. The odds were good

I think there wont be any value in vettel anymore as I expect bookies to have adjusted their thoughts.

I think you will get more value in red bull pairs as I suspect they will play a strategy beuty more than once.
Of merc show any small signs of getting on top of tyres then they will also have value.

I had Ric e/w @ 50/1

Verstappen e/w@ 28/1

Vettel to finish 5th or 6th @66/1

Kimi e/w @12/1

Alonso Podium @ 75/1

(all tiny bets - I never place more than £20 a race weekend)

There were times it looked like I was going to get 3 coming in

Kimi was 20/1 for pole before China FP started.

I got him at 16/1 before quali.

Gutted.

In 2005 I was 19/20 and all my mates were doing accumulators so I decided to get into F1 betting.

Australian GP - tenner on Fisichella to win. Because he was my favourite driver and I thought he'd do special things finally getting his big chance at Renault. WON. Can't remember how much, about 80 quid?

Malaysian GP - tenner on Alonso to win. Because I thought Fernando would edge Fisi there, WON. A bit less there I think.

Retired undefeated, have never put a bet on since.

*Bump*

I was wondering if there was a topic on here about F1 betting, a quick search later and hey presto!

I've always tended to bet more on football than F1, but I've had a couple of nice wins in my time - I can't remember my stake or the odds but I won £250 on Kubica when he won the 2008 Canadian GP, and the year before I put £10 on Kimi for the title and got back just over £100 I think!

I do have a tip for this weekend... Kimi for the race win WITHOUT Mercedes, Ferrari & Red Bull (the big six). I've put £5 on at odds of 12/1.

He's had a decent start with the Alfa, has a reasonable record at Monaco and it's his 300th GP weekend - you heard it here first 😉

Interesting to see George Russell is at +3300 as WDC on 3 different sites. Ahead of both red cars.

Hmmmm....what do they know..........?

No MotoGp odds as of yet?

So after testing and the first race, the title for Verstappen/RBR seems like an almost 100% foregone conclusion if I've ever seen one. Yet some betting pages still offer some relatively solid odds (around 1.2 - 1.4), so more or less a "free" 30% return in 9 months time. Too good to pass up?

I would never be so sure as to lump on a big spend for a Verstappen title after a single race. In 1998 McLaren romped away and lapped everyone at round 1. Hakkinen did win the championship in the end but it went down to the final race.

I was thinking the same thing.

I love Mika, he was the first driver I cheered for in F1, and he was brilliant, but I think Verstappen today is a clearly a more reliable pair of hands. He's got basically no weaknesses, he won't make many (if any) unforced errors and he won't fade away over the season. The only unpredictability would be an injury, which I consider pretty small as his main hobby seems to be sitting at home simracing  . Or AM becoming the fastest car because they have more windtunnel time. Also, cars 20 years ago were fragile as hell, while today the top teams finish almost every race (except Ferrari).

1998 had the trick brake banned after a couple of races, and a tyre war that enabled large chunks of performance to be made up mid-season. Don't think we'll have either of those this year. Also cars are much more reliable now as Jovanotti says.

I think ill health is about all that's seeing you risk your stake here. With a 30% return it's possibly worth it. I might do it at an amount that will enable me and the family to go out for a nice dinner at season end effectively on Max  :)

What's the best Moto GP book in the US?
Mine doesn't carry it and what I've looked at is thin.
Thanks ISOT
