That writer is an idiot who is either so biased up Webber's arse that he hasn't seen sunlight since July 9th, 2011, or knows nothing about Formula One.

And another Vettel thread.

Calm the **** down people - and mods, do something about this! It is unbearable really, and I'm not even a Vettel supporter.

This event and its aftermath is turning me into an SV supporter.

I was already super impressed how he got the pole by thinking clearly and driving very well.... then he won the race again by driving very well and doing a better job than his team mate (I dont believe MW had his engine turned down during that fight... SV is just a better driver than him - and that's not hard IMO... MW is one of the worst wheel to wheel drivers out there).

Now with all this excess flak that he is catching, I am gaining a lot of sympathy for the guy... am I alone in this?

Overreaction indeed.

However, the consequences of Vettel's action cannot be underestimated. It has a bigger dimension than Seb himself would have dared to imagine - in terms of his public image, no matter how misinformed.

It only has a bigger dimension cause the media has blown it all out of proportion, and most people will believe whatever their favourite media outlet tells them.

Oh please, stop this. You don't have to start a new thread on everything. Post it in an already existing thread.

Which is exactly what I said - no matter how well-informed or ill-informed.

It's not even close to what Armstrong did.

Vettel simply disobeyed a team order. He didn't cheat the sport (no, a Newey Red Bull isn't an illegal performance advanatge either!) Not hugely suprising given he has Marko in his corner, what has gone before, and not surprising either if you can see behind the smiley media face. He's as driven for success as they come. What happened doesn't make me think any less (or more) of him. In a way it was a nice ontrack battle.

Probably not. Vettel shouldn't have done it, but Webber's martyrdom is properly tiresome. As you say, the engine thing is very likely bs, as he could easily enough have turned it back up anyway; the harsh reality is that try as he might Vettel is just quicker than him, and it drives him nuts.

Yes,the article i think is written by a cycling fan who i think is a passive F1 fan,but there is a point he raised that I thought was interesting, character assasination.he said, quote= 'Just like we all thought Lance Armsrong was a nice, charitable and most of all a leading light for the human race in the way that he survived cancer, only to cheat and lie his way into the world's hearts,so has vettel, the smiling and laughing is a mask for a cheating and lying German only intrested in himself and is a disgrace to motor sport.'
personaly,i dont think Seb's actions on Sunday, while wrong, are in no way an indication of his character.in a way thats what this thread is about,do you think malasyia 2013 is an window into his character?

I didn't; I knew he was up to his eyeballs in drugs years ago, it was hardly difficult unless you didn't want to see it.

The article can be posted in the "who was right" thread if there's a desire to discuss it.

Cheers
