Frans,
Do you think Monaco Grand Prix is any better than F1RS(they are both made by Ubisoft). I played a demo of Monaco Grand Prix and the "physics" of the game and the graphics don't seem any better(both were good).

I think either one would be a great choice.

With F1RS you get the Estoril track, with Monaco Grand Prix you get Austria, otherwise the tracks are the same.

What's your take on this Frans?

Well Nicolas,

I think you haven't seen the REAL diffrences huh? Let me tell you that the cars from Monaco GPRS 2. They are "shaped" in the form of the 1997 season cars. So the Prost has a pointy nose, the shapes are ALL diffrent. Also a lesser good thing about Monaco GPRS is the paintings of the cars and the drivers. NON-licenced by the FIA.

This means that you have to download the REAL cars of the season you want. 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 whatever you want. Enter the drivers names and voils, you have the mot realistic F1-racing simulation available!!!! :)

And there are also many diffrences between part 1 and part 2. The Monaco version (2nd version) has lens flare, and the cars have sunshine on them. In the 1st one this wasn't the case. The cars "fee" more realistic, because in F1-Racing you made a mistake, and then you almost always spun.

But in Monaco GPRS 2 you can make little (if you are fast enough) corrections.

So the graphics are better in the Monaco GPRS 2 version, and so is the handling. The diffrence isn't very very big, but the 1950 -mode included and the carreerr mode make Monaco GPRS 2 the winner of the moment.

Better than F1-racing the 1st one. :)

Kind regards,

Are there any F1 games with realistic driver AI. Every sim i've tried they shunt into you on corners or cut into the back of you when you manage to outbreak them.

Cheers

I'm quite staggered at PC games developers' fascination with lens flare. Film and video cameramen work their butts off to GET RID of lens flare - PC game developers do the same to incorporate it. Go figure. :)

PJL, that IS realistic - we are in the Schumacher era, after all ;) There's two ways you can handle it. If you're a big wuss, you can snivel and blub about it, and burst into tears anytime someone mentions Adelaide 94. Or, if you're hard like me, you can sign up Liz Hurley as a team-mate, drink lots of Guinness before each race, and then get Medieval on everyone's ass. F1 isn't a sport, nor a way of life - it's legitimised warfare, darnit! :) :)

Rich, I don't really mind that much, I took many a corner while using my opponent as a brake while learning the game, it's just dissapointing (as a games designer) they seem to pay little attention to driver AI.

Regretfully, I seem to have misplaced Liz phone number, if you could just pass that along to me I'll break out some Guiness. Actually prefer Vanessa Williams and a DB Draught but beggars can't be choosers.

Cheers

The best driver AI I've ever encountered is GPL. Yes, you get rammed if you aren't very quick (the other drivers are simply not expecting you to brake that early etc etc.) But once you're up to speed the other drivers hover around behind you actually learning where your weaknesses lie and only have a stab if it's fairly safe to do so or you make a mistake! - AI drivers on the whole normally crash trying to avoid you rather than just smash into you (unless you're incredibly slow!)

Keeping my fingers crossed for a modern F1 Sim using a variation of the GPL game engine.....
