Let me guess, you don't have trophy from some stupid red bull x challenge? :p

Forgot I posted here, had a few to drink :p

That was the case on GT5, the difficulty of the Red Bull challenges and even some timed events was frustrating but it kept me playing. On GT6, I breezed through just about everything and I don't even think I'm halfway to the mileage trophy, which is the only one I have left. I'd rather it be very difficult as opposed to it being very easy tbh.

Even blasting round Nordschleife in a new car only racks up so many miles.

What the hell do I have to do get this game to install on my ps3? Trying for the third time now. Aftrr downloading about 20gig right off the bat it then keeps saying 'installing do not turn off hdd, 600 mins remaining' (or 530, then 480, then back up to 600 again). So off I go to do something else (to bed hoping it's done in the morning) and I come back to a turned off PS3. Boot it up hoping the game will work and back to square one again. Gran Hog Day.

Dunno if you've done it yet, but go to XMB>Settings>Power-save Settings and turn off 'system auto-off'. That way you can leave it on for long periods without it switching off by itself.

Indeed. I believe the quoted link refers to the game updates, which some have found problematic when trying to do all in one hit. Some of those also take quite some time.
One guy even though his PS3 was broken and bought a new PS3 as he wasn't aware of the auto-off setting.(Oopsie!) Needless to say he wasn't amused when informed!

LMAO @ 'Gran hog day' ! ;) :)

Tried out the track maker/path editor/whatever they're calling it. Recreated a local track in my area (Atlantic Motorsport Park) and it turned out pretty good. Layout was identical, but the scale was definitely a little off (should be lapping around 60 seconds, but it's taking closer to 100-110). Overall, it's a pretty neat tool that lets you easily recreate your favourite tracks, or make your own. I've always wanted to make some grand prix-esque tracks, so I'm probably going to have a bit of fun with this.

Well, it seems that the announcement of GTSport for PS4 has curtailed anything further with GT6. The Bugatti and Hyundai GTVision cars probably won't appear in GT6, along with the rest of the (yet to be revealed) GTVision section.

If makers of Gran Turismo will now make major changes on their "real racing simulator" games, I can live well without their games.

Same rant goes on and on and they will not just get it:

- Less Nissans. Though Kazunori Yamauchi will masturbate all his free time on Nissans, most of players are real disappointed amount of Nissans in his game.

- Sounds! Vacuum cleaners was OK in Gran Turismo 1, not in GT 4, not in GT 5, not in GT 6, not in GT Sport, definetely not in GT 7.

- I don't play anymore racing games which doesn't have dashboard view. Even Grand Thef Auto V has, Gran Turismo should have dashboards for all cars.

- Get rid of concept cars and fantasy cars.

- Get rid of irritating jazzmusic and pokemon menu sound samples. It's highly annoying.

- Proper damage model. Body sheets bends in contacts, stupid driving breaks car into parts, player has to be punished about too flamboyant driving.

- Lot of rival racing games has gone past Gran Turismo games. Forza 6, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa - you name it. Do not sell us same **** in new wrappings anymore, please.

It's a shame but I think you're right. Playing GT6 (after finally getting it installed which took a week!) I was racing in one of the novice cups around the Autumn Ring Mini in an orange Honda Jazz (including updated chin spoiler) and thought to myself this is literally no different to the experience of GT3 as I raced against 6 AI. Even the graphics aren't that much better. The only thing about hte physics that felt any different was the inside wheel would light up exited a sharp corner. Other than that it was probably less accurate, the gearchange was instantenous like an ultra light flywheeled racing auto box. When you dorve the **** standard road cars in GT1 the gear engagements took longer until you upgraded the flywheel/clutch/gearbox. The Honda Jazz may well have an F1 style DSG gearbox but I don't think it's gearchange would be that zingy. Little details like that make you think any new additions are to the detriment of made the original game special.

They do need fundamental gameplay ideas that compliment the original series.

Ah well. I guess this is all academic for me now anyway, as my PS3 now refuses to read the GT6 disc anymore.

F***itt!

Tony Mandara,

Is it just GT6 disc or other discs as well? any difference if PS3 reads CD, DVD and Bluray discs?

Your bluray reading head might be burnt. It's up to you to get it fixed or buy new PS3, maintence price is not much lower than new PS3...

It reads CD DVD BluRay film/game discs no problem (I suspect it would even read a book if I put one in there! ;). ) Just the GT6 disc is a problem. It actually worked on the 25th try.

I never realised I had that much patience! ;)

With PS3 you were able to adjust laser head (DVD/CD) with little handyman skills. (Tip was to find most difficult CDs and DVDs you have and get them all working, therefore easier discs will play fine. Intehnet even provided list some of difficult discs).

Not sure if similar is possible for Bluray head. However, it sounds like it's going to get kaput soon.

It's kind of sad to see such a shift of opinion in GT's fanbase over the last few years. This series was once held in such high regards, but these days? For every person who still loves GT, there's another person who is either disgruntled or disillusioned at the stagnation that the series has been suffering from over the last several years. I don't see too many people getting excited over GT Sport, but the lack of hype or interest is actually starting to become warranted. It feels as if Polyphony has gotten lazy and prioritizes concept cars, total car counts and ways to snap pictures of your cars over further improving the gameplay and innovating the series.

I don't have a PS4 nor am I interested in GT Sport, but I hope that the game can reverse this weird trend that the series is experiencing. It's not even a downward trend, it's just... a straight line. The series isn't really getting worse, but it's not getting any better either.

I think that the only thing that can change the constant trend of dumbing down racing games is VR. Reason I believe that is sense of speed. Kids want action, it should be like flying a rocket ship through a meteor storm and result is that they keep their foot down. Crash. Foot down. Crash. Switch to another game. With a normal screen and a FOV that shows the real radius of a corner it feels very slow. Peripheral vision is what gives you the sense of speed and you do not get that on a flat 23" screen, or whatever. So FOV is changed to simulate peripheral vision a bit and the result is that a 90 degree corner look like a small twitch that you can take flat out.

We are not many, we who like realism. They need to target the bigger group.

There is no trend in dumbing down racing games. They have evolved immensely in the last 10 years.

Gran Turismo is EXACTLY the same as it was 5 or 6 years ago. That is the problem.

Because GT6 is simply a patched version of GT5, it even uses the same cars for Gods sake.

The companies are dumbing the games down, nothing more.

The games market is now so immense that driving games are now solely aimed really at the console market, things like PCARS are crowd funded and released full of bugs and issues, other games even from big firms like Dirt Rally, are similarly funded, the driving market is simply not big enough to warrant companies spending any time on driving games. When you can make billions with Assasins Creed 48, GTA 16 and FIFA 1001. Simple patching and cross dressign is all those games are.

Milestone have done nothing but regurgitate SBK, MXGP, WRC games for years, and theya re all just patched up versions of the orginal one.

We as consumers are partly to blame, but all yoou can do is move on, find something decent and stay with it

Uh, did I just read you said Gran Theft Auto games are just patched cross dressed same games? :p

GTAs are developed a LOOOOOOT from what they started with. Even difference between GTA IV and GTA V is massive. Question is how they are going to make it even better for GTA 6.

You comment anyway match well with FIFA games and there's even some truth on Assassins Creeds.

The Andalusia challenge that was put up about a week ago, where you have to drive the Red Bull Fan Car, is brutal.  I have managed a little over 6 minutes with my game controller, which is not even good enough for bronze, but I was about 6500th in world ranking despite this poor time.  Last time I checked there were only 50 people who had made it to the gold level.

My GT6 disc has finally given up and died (much like the VisionGT section for that matter!) Tried it in three different PS3s with the same result. It has now been ceremoniously 'chucked in the garbage can'. If anyone has an unused disc which they don't want, I'll gladly accept it! ;)

I am of course only kidding. ;) (except about the disc being dead.)

Enough to wear out the disc! ;)

Spent a lot of time using the camera. Particularly enjoyed that aspect of the game. Alas, no more.

Edit: Tried to add a link to my Flikr page (Flikr>>People>>tony.mandara) but Android is being an S.O.B and won't let me.

I have a question regarding psn download of GT6. I previously owned GT6 standard edition and have an extensive garage/game save (including all cr20 million cars etc). As mentioned above, the PS3 eventually wouldn't load the disc. Rather than buying a used game I am considering downloading from psn (a little more expensive, but negates any possible disc load problems).
My question however is: if I download the anniversary edition, will it recognise my game save and add the anniversary cars to it, or will it create a new save, requiring me to start all over again?
I've tried searching online for an answer, but only find forums with 'inanely stupid' questions such as "will my GT5 save work with GT6?" I'm trusting that people here will have a little more intelligence. ;)

(Also, people who wish to say "Get youthelf a pee-eth four! Nobody playth pee-eth three anymore.. cauthe itth jutht thcummy..Eeuw!!. Everyone at thchool thez tho!" Need not reply as it doesn't answer the question, thank you most kindly) :)

I would assume if you (had and) download the standard GT6 it would recognise your game save, although I guess you would first have to delete your 'installed game data' file. I'm not sure whether that PSN download includes all updates, I fear not and therefore would mean downloading and installing all updates again.
I was wondering if downloading the anniversary edition (as I owned the standard edition) would require me starting the game from scratch.

I find GT6 feels absolutely prehistoric now when you go back to it. I've not been completely impressed with the likes of Project CARS but you compare the feeling of driving say a Toyota TS040 around Le Mans in the two games and GT6 feels so primitive. The track is so narrow, the handling seems to lurch across the road, you bounce ridiculously off the barriers, and don't even get me started on the 'racing' dynamics of it. I find it hard to believe that it got such good reviews, it feels pretty much exactly the same as the earlier versions right back to GT3. It's never moved with the times, just got slightly smoother looking.

I have found that with the last new generations of the game

And would expect the new version to be exactly the same.

Polyphony are one of the laziest developers around. I mean how can you release a game saying it has 60 cars when three quarters of them are ported over from the previous generation of console, have no interiors.

Same trakcs for years, same skins on cars for years, there is very little actual new content when yout ake the whole game as a whole.

And they are always late!!  By years!!

GT series just tried to bite off too much and lost direction, there's no need for so many cars and tracks just focus on the racing. Project Cars shits all over it but the UI in PCars is terrible.

I think Project CARS tries to be something a bit more focused than GT but misses the mark. Assetto Corsa is better for that. I think the main one that dumps all over Gran Turismo these days is Forza. Forza 6 for me offers everything GT does but far better.

Just played the official demo, same old long loading time while in-game graphics and handling do not have major improvement from the previous editions.

Look like I would pay for the Project Cars 2 instead

I would expect it to be the same as the last few massive patches masquerading as new games from Polyphony.

They have been doing it for years let's face it.

The removal of career mode and replacing with a boring campaign mode is a fail for me.

It was so boring when I tried it in the demo. They have basically made the license tests from the old games the only single player aspect of career.

For what used to be the best racing game franchise is no longer the case for me. Cant see me bothering with this title.

Went back to Gran Turismo 6 last weekend after rather ignoring it at the time and dismissing it as just being a big patch for the last one. And despite myself, I loved it. I played into the career mode, unlocked stuff like the Goodwood Festival of Speed and more interestingly the Sierra Time Rally which I found really good fun if a little bit easy (got a perfect score first time), did various time trials with different cars on the 'classic" GT circuits and about half way round a lap of the Nurburgring the reasons why Grand Turismo still has its charm all came flooding back to me. The actual racing is pretty ****. The rest of it can be properly satisfying.
