But why are there 42% 'key' moments from the past 10 years, as opposed to 58% from the previous 80 years? Surely there we more moments from that period, or the most recent moments aren't that 'key' at al.

Nice overview. And I like the Kimi-drunk bit.

It's from my own memory and what I could find on the internet, looking for 'best moments' and 'best races Monaco'.
Feel free to suggest more stuff though!

Here's a more spectacular Tabac crash.
And here's one that actually turned into a race-winning move.

I don't think Kimi's boat incident happened in Monaco. In the video there are a lot Finns talking in the background so it probably happened somewhere in Finland.

In 2009, Button ran on the start-finish straight after winning the race as he incorrectly parked his car in the pit lane when the top 3 finishers should park at the start-finish straight.

That's not the one in the OP. Here's the real one:
Some stuff from the 1996 GP: Schumi crashes on the first lap and the crash between Irvine, Salo and Häkkinen.

One from history that should be noted is the massive pile up at Tabac behind Fangio in 1950, when he came back round he instinctively slowed as he could see the crowd were focused on that area.

1992: Senna wins the race after holding off Mansell in the dominant Wiliams for several laps.
Yeah I was thinking this one too but difficult to pick one spot on the map for that...

1994 Brundle's arguably best ever drive in Formula 1
1997 Barrichello drives to P2 in Stewarts' debut season
2004 Trulli's only win
2010 Only 6 years later Trulli on top of Chandhok's HRT
2012 Schumachers last "pole" in qualifying

2010 when we were heading for an epic finish between Vettel, Alonso and Button only for a silly crash Petrov, Alguersauri and co to bring out the Red Flag and ruin it all. We did get Hamilton's kamikaze move after the restart taking Maldonado out then his infamous interview afterwards.

The 2005 Toyota (Trulli or Ralf?) pass on Fisichella on the hairpin was pretty epic.
Yes!
And Panis on Irvine in 1996, a pass at the hairpin that actually worked. They should write the avoidable collision rule assuming a priori that this should be legal.
1992: Senna wins the race after holding off Mansell in the dominant Wiliams for several laps.
For the sake of editorial balance we should probably also include Bernoldi doing the same thing to Coulthard in 2001.

Of course it was, silly me.
Also there was this classic moment where De Chesaris takes out Piquet at the hairpin (89) and they sit in their cars waving at each other.

This is one of the ones that first came to mind for me. I had never seen F1 cars move so casually under race conditions, if only for a few seconds.

the only year that monaco disappointed was 2012 where it was hyped to be a classic where it turned to be a boring tyre-saving webber-following no-overtaking race
That was because Michael Schumacher's pole lap was taken away.

I would like to suggest the addition of Alonso flicking the bird to Ralf Shumacher at the tunnel exit after being forced to overtake on the marbles in (had to look it up) 2004.

Probably the most epic flip-off ever. Not sure about the inclusion of Horner in the swimming pool but Kimi and his boat are real winner Great fun to see this anyway.

It´s called tyre warming. You accelerate and brake hard to keep temperature in your tyres to have good grip on a restart. It´s not your fault to have a guy behind too close and not paying enough attention, especially without an inminent restart.
