Must say, having played the new Series X version of ACC, I’m becoming obsessed with it. I see what people see in this now. God it’s good. It’s the spiritual successor to TOCA2 for me - just a brilliant game based on a championship that’s maybe a bit niche but all the better for it. I’m doing a career of championships starting with the first year (2017/18?) and eventually working through to the most recent stuff. Can’t wait to try the British GT too. It’s the frame rate that makes all the difference. I’m playing on a controller still, but some of my times have been become pretty decent on some tracks. It’s on another level to any other console racing sim I’ve played I think. But it’s taken me ages to realise that.

There is one on the net which seemed good... but it crashed my AC. See 'Racedepartment Melbourne 22'. At your own peril..

For the real nerds: I found out that in AC, with Content Manager, you can actually manually set up grids and handicap cars and drivers...

See here: https://youtu.be/g3eHnZsMTzY

Hard to find, so good an option.

This should be posted to couple other threads too but there is a racing game bundle on Humble Bundle again.

If you haven't already, the 1970 F1 Car from RSS is a must buy car for Assetto Corsa. I love driving (with a shifter preferably) these! Such a joy! Together with a great selection of classic 50-60-70's era tracks, it's the best.

Regarding modding and Assetto Corsa. I don't feel too good about it. It is a Steam-only game. And i really don't think FOM&Codemasters will be happy to see another game showing F1 cars.

How wrong I was! :D

The only defence I have is that back then, FOM was on a spree, together with Ferrari. Shutting down anything that used their trademarks and could potentially earn money. Does anyone remember the start of the fall of BATRacer?

I'm a little bit annoyed I missed the Steam sale for ACC. I saw it was on sale, thought to myself "I must remember to get that whilst it's on sale!" and then promptly forgot about it. I'm thinking about getting back into sim racing again, I have a bonus coming up so I might put some aside to build a small setup. I don't have a great deal of space, so I'll have to be a little creative.

I did have an iRacing subscription for a year. I did two races (with a win in the second!) before my last wheel died and I didn't have the means to replace it, so that was a waste

Myrvold, I was on BATracer back then and I remember the fallout of the Ferra... er, Team Wales thing. I went back into my account and poked my head into the forums somewhat recently. Complete ghost town now. Shame Jules never really had the time/want to move the game with the times.

Be patient and keep eye on Humble Bundle, the driving game bunde resurfaces regularly. It will take a while since previous just ended but I'm sure it will came again and then you get much more than just ACC.

Acc is an acquired taste for me.  Basically it is a game where a lot of content has been completely forgotten about or lost, they only care about current cars and tracks and leave everything else which is a shame

If you love setups and can do them you will enjoy it, but for those who more want to click and race the defaults setups especially on older cars are completely broken resulting in poor lap-times.

there are also numerous exploits that seem to occur the same in any sim, but especially in ACC, you can either choose to use them and sort of cheat or try and be honest, but the result is always the same in some servers you will often guys much faster

For the few people that play this game offline, I've got a nice way to set up a race (or weekend). In AC Contentmanager, in the 'Drive' menu, you can set the general level of the AI and if you click on the menu of the manual grid, you can choose which cars you want to race against and with some mods, which drivers. Now here's the nice trick I worked out:

1. Make a manual grid of the car you want to race with and against, create 10 drivers and set the levels of the drivers in descending of level. For me, the level of any F1 game is something around or just under 90, so I make the order 90, 89, 88, 87, 86, 85, and so forth.

2. Rename the drivers to the just filled in levels. So driver A becomes driver 90, driver B becomes driver 89, and so forth. Save this file as X_TEST because you want to use it again later. Trust me!

3. Then go the general drive menu and set the level to 100 percent.

4. Choose a weekend with just a qualification session.

5. Drive as fast as you can, with the same fuel-level and tires (of course) as the AI-cars.

6. No surprise the driver with highest level (and name) will be the fastest, and the other AI-drivers slower in increments. Make a picture with your phone of the times and notice in particular how much the times are spread.

7. Then go the manual grid again, create a full grid (so 20 in a F1 2023 like game) and set the levels slower per AI-driver by VERY small segments. In my F1-game I have Max Verstappen at 99.6, Lando Norris at 99.5, Le Clerc at 99,3 and Logan Sargeant and Zhou at 98 round (or something)

8. Go the general menu, look at the photo you took (2) and set the general level to the percentage (or the name of the driver (see 2.) as close your fastest time at the track (see 5).

9. If you want a challenge, you can set the level 1 point higher than the fastest driver of the above mentioned qualification session. My experience is I will be about 1 second slower than the eventual winner of the race.

10. In the general Drive menu there is also an option (left bottom) to set the fuel, tire-use and damage. Because I want to race the same track several times, I set the laps to 1/3rd of the real life distance and multiply the fuel and tire-use by 3. Because I am not that quick, that means I will be slower than the AI-cars in the beginning, but because I ask less of the tires, I will be able to re-overtake them later in the race.

Here you have it. If people like this post I can also post some tips about creating pitstops and stuff like that!

I go back and forth on AC. Never really consistently engaged with it....same for ACC. However, I might give this a try.

Hi

I've sent you via PM a link to the race-grid preset I use for the F1 2023 hybrid mod. In that mod, setting the grid and indivudual AI-strengths work very well. Other mods don't like to be manipulated it seems.

Regards

J.

By the way, I've bought a 1994 mod (yeah, back to GP2) and to my surprise I can hang with the AI on 100 percent (1,5 second slower than the fastest). Also this car I CAN setup (while other mods on this game changing the setups just leads me nowhere. Varying the talent-quotient in Content Manger does not work however in this mod, but in the same program you can dd ballast and with that one can handicap the field pretty good. 25 ballast is 0,9 seconds slower in Barcelona, 75 is 2.2 and 100 is about 3.7 seconds. I've made a grid for the Brazilian GP 1994 and it seems pretty accurate. Further testing follows!

EDIT: Quite funny. The fastest AI-car drives an 1.21.09 around the old Barcelona-track. Michael Schumachers pole at Barcelona in 1994 WAS a 1.21.something. That is quite something.
