Died today being 90 years old. He was, before anything, a gentleman.

What a lovely, powerful man he was - only bad career choices prevented him from having more success (had he stayed at Ferrari for 1952/53...)
Fernando Alonso`s 2011 Silverstone win comes to mind - amazing that Pepe won it twice (1951 and 1954) - it would be more than fitting that Nando wins Silverstone next weeks and dedicates it to the Pampas Bull!

Thanks for the link, never saw that one. Second lap Fernando is really going for it - can`t suppress a racer`s instincts....and he was all smiles in the interview afterwards. A fitting tribute to Froilan Gonzalez and all the drivers of that era - it just makes you appreciate more what they did....
Also amazing how much positive camber they had on the cars....and the sound and power!!!

Amazed that we still have men from that era around, but I guess sportsmen live a long time if they didn't succumb to the obvious dangers of the time.
RIP, Must have been strange seeing the modern cars. Like WW2 fighter pilots seeing modern fighter jets.

Sad news, yet oddly appropriate with Silverstone coming up. I'm sure the team will give him a fitting tribute at the Grand Prix.
