This will look so nice in Dixon's stately British home, propping a door open.

He's a Kiwi living in Indiana, to him this is art :p

Actually, the Pocono trophy would be fit right at home in Marco's crib, if you've seen some of the other "classy" stuff he's got in there.
No wonder he's so heartbroken.

From Speed dot com's race report

it also marked the first time a team scored a 1-2-3 at a Triple Crown event since 1979 at Ontario Speedway when Bobby Unser, Rick Mears and Mario Andretti completed the feat for Penske Racing.

Now that's a super team

Why does Kimball need an insulin pen? Does he have diabetes or something?

He uses it to write secret messages to his pit crew.

Using Sunoco fuel as invisible ink. This has the advantage of making the messages easier to burn after reading.

Yep -- finished second, IIRC, and then was banned from the next year's 500 after the track doctor figured out he was diabetic. After a demand by other drivers to let Wilcox race failed, his car was handed over to Mauri Rose, and the rest is history, as they say.

Yeah, they split their time between Indianapolis, NZ and Buckinghamshire, UK.

Good enough race i thought. Annoyed that Sato effectively took 2 fast cars out of the hunt. Track wasn't as racey as i'd hoped but overall i think it was good.

So they expected nobody to show up? If they stands were a quarter filled, I'd say that would be optimistic.

From my vantage point, the middle section looked pretty packed, I guess that's where they were selling the tickets first. The southern portion of the grandstand, closest to turn 1, was virtually empty. That was really strange, as I found it to be a much better place to watch the race from, and I decided to relocate there permanently.

OK, just quickly..

Own up, who had Hinch in the first-DNF stakes?

Charlie, our #1 coach driver.
Up$66.00 he is..

How many hitchhikers did you get?

We got 3..none from on here btw.

Girls are always popular aming hexers

Jp was  at the girls results today.

I missed the start. What happened with Hinch?

Will you please pay more attention...!!!????

Please let Dario have an engine failure.

It appears that you possess the dreaded Schadenfreude Induced Reverse Hex.

Hmm.... look at Dixon's car, someone had an there hex but repented. The man is imune today.

That was the original pick sheet.
Crossed out by Matt who liked the idea of First to Crash. and started this new sheet.

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

But does it seem that every race interview goes one or two questions too far? Seems like whoever's getting interviewed only wants like 2-3 questions but they always get slammed with like 6-7

Agreed... and noted to various press types..

I preferred that to Indy.

Different Animal...

Wasn't that him in the bear suit?

Funny you should say that...it's a foxy hybrid whateva..
Boy was I hot in that thing.

From Speed dot com's race report
Now that's a super team

OMS?...
You know, I'll bet I was there ....?

----------
Ok..Here are the best pics from our Raceday.
(real busy today so no time for long, drawn out story which you've all heard before)..

The first thing all our tour bus passengers said when they awoke was....
WHERE'S THE ScheißeCabin?

The second was..
WHERE ARE OUR FREE TICKETS?

So, off they went in search of the free lunch and air conditioning
They found it

So with the uninitiated safely ensconced upstairs I head off for a quick Grid Walk with the racing friendly among us. Notice the amazing credential required for this portion of the event. They all found the #7 livery to their liking. Just before being found bereft of a proper credential I said hello to some friends up the back of the grid .
I HAD to go lay the smackdown on a certain wager I made and when it all went pit entry pear-shaped the gang laughed and said.."Jp, you cursed him" My instant reply was something like ..'He needed NO HELP FROM ME '

So, as engines were fired and we made our way up to the stands..
I was lucky/clever to obtain a few spots for us on the secondary spotters roof.
Unlucky to be positioned next to a certain object of derision

Everyone had a great time and I think, with this unrivalled access, we spawned about 5 NEW IndyCar fans.

Props to Dario's mental discipline. You're having a tough two years. You've got an engine change putting you at the back of the grid. You're trying to get in your zone and guess who shows up next to your car :p

Heh.

But you probably missed what we saw on the telecast from the helicopter just after the race. They caught sight of a real bear jumping up and down in some long grass: he appeared to have got too far from the woods and looked rather desperate! Obviously long grass wasn't suitable for whatever he had in mind.

If there's an upside for ANY series that struggles for fans to attend it's races , it's the fact opportunities abound for meeting not only the racers , but team owners and retired racers as well if you plan even a little bit and take advantage of tickets that give you access to the garage and pits areas pre and post race.
This isnt exclusive to Indy Car either , as there are many national touring series becoming more and more aware that fan interaction with the competitors is a great way to help build up a fan base. Sadly the downside is as more race fan become aware and can take advantage of these opportunities it makes them just that much harder to have such freedom.
So if you get a chance to take part enjoy it and take lotta of pics. The memories you keep will be priceless.

Why I stepped back and didn't make the plunge. With a good racing culture around the city (because it's the only sport they are good at), there has got to be a few members here from there.

What do you mean they DON'T call it The Venice of The North East? :drunk:
