Lewis Hamilton 2007, 2009, 2012
Jenson Buton 2006, 2011
Mark Webber 2010
Kimi Raikkonen 2005
Fernando Alonso 2003
Guess its a good opportunity for Sebastian to break his duck.
Seb, Lewis, Kimi and Fernando only previous pole sitters on the grid.
Between Mercedes and RedBull in qualifying this weekend, its going to be a scorcher.

If Vettel manages to snatch another win while another non-contender finished second, people can direct nearly all of their effort into the 2014 projects. Alonso and Kimi really need to win this one or count on luck for something else.
And it might be worth putting some money on Kimi and/or Alonso. http://www.skybet.com/formula-1
Who knows???

And from his last 5 races here he has 4 podium finishes.Kimi has I believe 6 podiums including a win in 10 visits at this track, should be a great weekend for the Lotus duo!

Williams & Mclaren revival with new tires??? 1 and 2 currently
Or driving with lower fuel load like usually...
#15
Posted 26 July 2013 - 08:44
not really. The track evolution is so rapid that Raikkonne had Purple all and after few laps he was beaten by Williams and McLaren.Williams & Mclaren revival with new tires??? 1 and 2 currently
There is simply no way that Williams could improve that much. It is all thanks to the track and removing the dust from it / adding some rubber

I was kind of joking hence the smileys
Still, it's rare to see Mclaren leading half way through

Alonso is monstrous through S2.
Could be lighter fuel load, this is just practise but surely Alonso will be good competitor this weekend.

The close competitiveness of this session is reminiscent of last year. A result of the new tyres perhaps? It's early days, but I don't remember an FP1 like this in 2013.
Could be yes but this is a very short track so times should be close here.

Haven't heard any complaints about graining or tyres falling apart. Have to wait until the options are run to know for sure but the heat doesn't seem to be destroying the tyres in the manner I imagined they would.
Well these are medium tyres, none has tried softs yet and it's not as hot yet as it will be....plus tyres are last years spec with this years compounds so they should be fine.

I don't believe graining would be an issue here. Overheating would be the main culprit rather than graining.Haven't heard any complaints about graining or tyres falling apart. They will probably not try softs in FP1. They have to return 1 set of primes after FP1 and the options could be better used in FP2 where the track temperature will be closer to qualifying and the race.Well these are medium tyres, none has tried softs yet and it's not as hot yet as it will be....plus tyres are last years spec with this years compounds so they should be fine.

Yes I know they always do it like that and also because fp2 is closer to what the weather will be during quali/race.

I thought you could get graining when temperatures are too high as well as too cold. Wasn't it a major problem in Bahrain?

Not sure where Mercedes are at the moment. they seem to be following a totally different program
They are the fastest as usual, driving with very heavy car but when quali comes they are on top or close at least.

Possibly. Bernie has to go on the charm offensive and paint a good picture of himself ahead of his impending trial . Nothing better than schmoozing with the kids.Hmmh! Has he forced this upon them? I know most of them would be happy to do such a thing, normally, but right in the middle of two practise sessions?
