I seen this new game the other day, has anyone played this one yet? If so, is it any good? What are its strong points and weak points?

I don't have it yet but, I know it doesn't have FIA support. No real teams and drivers but, you can still figure out who's who. I'm debating whether or not to get it.

Bought it. Car control...feels great.

Game looks a bit 'cartoonish'. The difficulty level is a tad bit light in terms of racing the AI drivers, however, they are a bit less predictable than F1 97CE.
F197CE is still, far and away the best f1 game available for PSX. There are however, at least three new F1 / PSX simulators on the line up for this fall and winter :)

J-Man, is this game better than F198? I don't want to buy a game like Andretti Racing which I thought was weak.

It's much better than F198, but in retrospect, I wouldn't have bought it. Rent it first JOE or wait till it drops to half price. I wouldn't recomend it.

I really, really, like it. Only played it a few times, can't keep my car on the track yet, I'm shifting manually, and I am totally stoked. The car control with the dual shock analog controller is the smoothest out there, you don't leave rubber all over the track, it has the grooved tires and narrower cars, you can control the gearing ratio, steering radius...plus a whole lot more. The graphics are better than I thought they would be.

No F1 license...yeah, but who cares. This is a no nonesense game, it loads quickly, and IMO it has the best AI, even better than F1CE. You just sit down, fire through a few startup screens, and you're off and racing.

Can't wait to try link mode against a friend. DON'T underestimate this game. I've played just about every F1 game for consoles there is, and this one has the best game play bar none, IMO. Unless you're playing F1CE on expert mode and lapping the field in a Minardi, you'll like it too, I promise.

The 'cockpit view' is THE best out there. Realistic hands on the wheel, the wheel turns, the dash is easy to see, and I like the three lights that light up in a row when it's time to shift. If you shift right when the second light comes on, you get the most speed out of the car.

Very solid, no nonesense game. Arcade mode also the best I have seen so far. If it had an F1 license, I'd have to rate it above F1CE just for the game play alone. It's my new defacto F1 game on the PSX. Arcade mode is a fnatastic way to introduce a new player to F1 for the first time.

With another sim on the way from EA Sports, I'm happy to finally leave the buggy, clunky, slow loading Psygnosis games behind. When they dropped the link mode from F1CE I was annoyed, still had to play the original for that arcade feel, and when they released F198 and I realized how bad it was, complete with a bug that rendered my NegCon useless, I vowed to jump ship as soon as possible. Consider the ship jumped!

I'm slowly getting hooked on this one myself. It's realy easy to go up and pass every car (even in expert mode), but, your tires won't last!!! You must go strategically slower to hit your pit window which is d@mn tough to do and stay with the podium guys!!!

This could be addictive!

I'm so hooked now it isn't even funny. I'm actually becoming a smooth, technical driver on this game. I was totally seat of the pants on F1CE.

No question, this game is now on the top of my list.

Is it true that you can edit the teams down to almost every detail?

Well sorry to be a fly in the ointment but I thought it stank!!

Far to 'arcadey' for my tastes, the only god thing was teh other drivers AI but the graphics sucked and I'm afraid I took it straight back to the shops and bought F1GP2 for the Nintendo which is much more realistic.
