Erm, he does realize that he's wearing an adult onesie, right (the same style of clothing that an infant wears)? If an F1 driver wants to look cool, I don't think the cap is the problem.

I think this shows how much Mercedes are willing to accommodate Lewis and I think its great.
McLaren would never give a driver such freedom and its a shame really.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:05
Like it does matter. Soon he will be bald so he will wear one always no matter how shitty it will look like.

They wouldn't give a driver such freedom because part of their job, which they're paid millions to do is to promote the company image, the brand. It's F1 not New York fashion week.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:26
Lewis sticking it to the man.
Yeah he's such a character.
Listen, I wear no cap, don't wanna look silly.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:33
Good. It's always annoyed me slightly that all the drivers have to wear caps.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:38
Driver in not wearing cap shocker!
I bet if they really wanted him to, he'd be wearing it.
Like most of the complainants here I am outraged that he doesn't wear a cap. Won't somebody please think of Mercedes!? I mean, look at what he's worn before. This is a great opportunity to trot out photos from dodgy magazine photoshoots and to have a general moan on the back of this most heinous of F1 crimes. I'm conditioned to drivers wearing caps and just can't comprehend when one doesn't.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:44
And what's wrong with it, it's just a plain old cap?
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:44
Just wait till he's wearing one next year that he designed...
Posted 31 August 2013 - 10:49

Guess thats why Vettel is wearing his.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:03
There is an irony that in Croydon caps are almost mandatory. I'm starting to see a pattern.
I don't like the caps - I wouldn't wear one myself, I think they look stupid.
Good for Lewis then.
I don't think its a big deal - he is constantly plastered in stuff saying 'Mercedes'. No one, but no one, is going to fail to get the message because it also isn't also emblazoned 2 inches above his forhead.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:26
Man got balls.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:28
Man got balls.
You wanna tell me that his behavior where he is like " I WON'T WEAR IT CAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT" is saying that he has balls?
Oh man.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:32
This reminds me a joke of when people were arguing that Alonso is very good at car development that he himself designs the car. Everyone has their own strength as they say. Conversely Hamilton is so good at fashion that he will design the clothing! Lol.

I know. This is a step too far. What about the caps feelings? What about the designers' feelings? The monster!
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:39
He has such a small head that an adults cap would look silly.

Lacks bling and plastic stickers.

Good point. Perhaps he could borrow Kimi's comic sized Genni cap with the plastic 'Angry Birds' logo. I'm sure a bit of spray painting could turn it into a Merc cap and we could then all sleep easy as it adorned his "small head".
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:50
I don't think its a big deal
I don't think either. I thought that he maybe isn't wearing one because he's working on a deal like Schumacher had with Deutsche Vermögensberatung (he recently signed a new €21m deal with them I just read). To read that he isn't wearing one because he doesn't like it I found just odd.
But it's not even correctly translated, he actually said (laughing) that he's not yet wearing a cap. Maybe he will indeed come up with his own design eventually.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 11:56
Woah, he's living on the edge. What a rebel.

Come on dude. You know the crack with "Steve's Law":
If Kimi does it - it's "Steve McQueen"....... If Lewis does it - it's "Steve McClaren".......

Indeed, but you need special tinted glasses to see that. And I bet Lewis won't wear them either.

Nail on head. But it should be a cap.

Ha the long lost Hammy bash thread lives again, worthy successor to the gap in the teeth and the eyes being different sizes.
I've been noticing all year; it's great Lewis told them where to put it, or at least is aiming to get paid for wearing one. The caps are so stupid. They never fit properly, and why the enormous peaks? And yes Kimi's Ferrari cap OMG what was that about Italian style ?
I always think why not just stamp the sponsor name on their foreheads it would look less ridiculous.

More power to him for keeping an eye on the details.

Lewis has a more refined style.

Maybe he just wants a flat bill hat like Kimi. I dont think he should worry about designing clothing and should concentrate on his albums... I mean racing.

According to the figures here -> http://forums.autosp...-team-finances/ <- McLaren are twice as reliant on sponsors as Mercedes. McLaren aren't a financial powerhouse and can't afford to jeopardise a major income stream.
Mercedes have paid a huge sum to bring Hamilton in and he's the focus of the entire team. If he doesn't want to wear the cap for whatever reason then I'm sure Mercedes are happy to make an exception and keep him in his happy bubble.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 13:36
Holy sh*t Batman, Lewis Hamilton won't wear a Mercedes Cap, quick, back to the batcave to create a pointless thread on Lewis Hamilton once again.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 13:43
Wow... He gets paid multi-million pounds every year, gets a race winning F1 car and refuses to wear his employers logos?
If this is true, he seriously needs to separate his profession from his private life...
Let's see if he can get his own collection
Posted 31 August 2013 - 13:43
I don't blame hime, those silver Mercedes hats look quite horrible imo.
I thought he would have got an endorsement deal by now though.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 13:44
wow. who said f1 was boring?
Posted 31 August 2013 - 14:06
Personally i'd doff my hat off to him, if i didn't hate the design and so didn't wear it.
Posted 31 August 2013 - 14:15
Great thread. Hats off to op.

Poor Lewis...as you may know, he is going through a tough time just now. Why would Mercedes want to make things even worse by making him wear a ridiculous hat! And that Mercedes cap is truly fugly. Lewis does have his street credibility to think of you know.
at this thread!
