I'm not asking you for your favourite driver, just asking who you wish you were in life if you were to be one of them?

Who would you want to be as a F1 driver?

Button. A nice wage , a lovely girl and a top car. What more could you ask for ?

I think it's all about what sits inside driver's head.
Button looks like easy going lad, but he won't be remembered among greatest of all time, and I would surely like to be.
Being Vettel I wouldn't like people questioning my skills all the time.
Being Hamilton I would probably cry after Nicole all the time.
Being Webber I would be glad to be leaving F1
2 WDCs, 30 milions a year and that epic Ferrari armchair in the garage would probably make me want to be Alonso.

Definitely would want to be Alonso. Huge wage, 2 WDCs(which is decent), will get all the credit for good performances and can always complain about the car if something went wrong, get BBC "chief F1 writer" as a personal fanboy, Santander, cool hair, a few million followers on Twitter and a cute girlfriend.
Or maybe Vettel. His 15-20 millions are pretty decent. Sure, I would get booed and haters would try to put my achievements down to the car, but I would have at least 4 WDCs and most likely would be the most successful driver of my generation and for several decades to come. His girlfriend is pretty cute, too. His race engineer is probably the funniest on the grid. I like his blonde PR handler. My wife likes his personal trainer. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the hair.

I will go with the old generation. I like the new one, but I don't want to be any of them --note that drivers I like are not necessary the ones I want to be. My choice would be any driver who just raced for a while and was not super famous, rich, well-known. A driver I can relate to. I think they did it mainly because of the racing and nothing more. And today they seem to be happy enough with their lives.
I would like to be David Hobbs or Terry Fullerton.
Hobbs: I became interested after watching him at Speed and now NBC Sports Network. I wasn't born when he was racing.
http://en.wikipedia...._(racing_driver)
Fullerton: I became interested ever since I saw Senna mentioning him at the end of the Senna film. Also, I didn't know he helped Wheldon and Di Resta in their careers. Here is an interesting article about him. Nice written.

Kimi or Vettel, to be fast, consistent and have a great mental strength.

#12

I would be Vettel because i would have the fastest car, never have a decent teammate and never have to race hard for my wins - the easy life

Vettel. And all races would be held in Suzuka.

If I could pick any in history, Michael Schumacher.

Mika Hakkinen.

If I had the opportunity of choosing someone it would be the most laureated driver in the history of Formula 1: Michael Schumacher.

Max Chilton. Knowing that no matter how much of a failure I am at racing, I will never have to think about getting a real job.

Brabham: driver and constructor, team founder, F1 & Indy - genius
Siffert & Regazzoni: both Swiss guys with great charisma and a lot of talent in probably the best era(s) of F1, sportscar racing (Porsche 917!)
Hunt: 70s, living the life
Räikkönen: loads of talent, F1/Rallye/Motocross, Ferrari champion, cashing in nicely, loved by people yet being left alone

Hmmm, I reckon the question is about who's enjoying his life the most. That rules out the insane top guys afaic, they're never satisfied and just weird. Grosjean? He's had a few downs but it looks like he's on the way up now. Seems a really nice cheerful guy and spouses do not come more gorgeous than his.

Huh? "want to be someone?"
Heck no.
I would be myself. And if I can't answer like that, then I would not like to be in F1.

Heck, and he lives in Switzerland too: http://www.f1i.com/p...f1i&gallery=405. If Kimi were to get a red and white passport, I might have to switch my allegiance from Lewis.

I don't know, he must feel a Sisyphus-like frustration after all those Ferrari years.
They all got the money and more or less fame, in the end it goes down to who is the happiest for me. Right now that would probably be Vettel. 4 WDC's in a row and being part of that team must feel like natural dope.

I'd be Häkkinen. His got more than enough fame and recognition being 2xWDC and having beaten Schumacher. On top of that his a true gentleman with a nice house in Monaco. And since Mika is retired I wouldn't have to scare the **** out of myself by racing and I could just enjoy the rest of my live doing what ever I wish.

I'd rather be a racing driver not in F1. You get to do the job you love, earn a decent wage, and avoid the press intrusion into your private life like top F1 drivers suffer.
In summary, I'd be Tom Kristensen or Sebastien Loeb.

Great choices...
By the way, I don't consider Susie a F1 driver, she does not even have the super licence.
And about the other possibility... You are really mean...

If anyone, I always envied Gerhard Berger's life in a way. They were heady days where the life of an F1 driver was (or at least appeared to be) much less constrained by corporate 'correct speak' (and relentless internet and media exposure).
I don't know how true it really is, but through my rose tinted glasses they did seem to be much more aloof, personable and easy going than today's crop. They drove monsters of race cars, smoked, drank and enjoyed the 'benefits' of the job to the full.
Berger, as Sennas teammate at McLaren and at Ferrari was in all the right places it seems to me - and for me the opening question is not all about success in terms of fastest car, WCs etc - and he always had a mischievous smile or quip or a ridiculous practical joke to play, as well as not taking life or himself too seriously. That would have suited me very well.
He still makes me smile anytime he offers a throwaway comment when a mic is stuck in front of his face.
Another would be Mika Hakkinen. But that's another story and very different life to Berger.

Kimi.
To not give a flying **** about what anyone else thinks, to be bloody fast and to live life away from the track to the fullest rather than being an athlete-esque robot for 365 days a year. All while getting paid a rather sizeable small fortune.
Or Grosjean, just so i can see what happy pills he's on.

F1 isn't all that. If Max Chilton had 1/10th of Michèle Mouton's ability, he'd be racing Seb for the championship.
