Morning all,

Included in a collection of photos, believed to have been taken at a meeting in S. Africa (Pietermaritzburg Easter races possibly), c1959, were the following two photos.

Does either car look familiar to anyone? all advice and info much appreciated.

thanks in advance

Richard

No. 19 appears to have Simca wheelstud pattern...

The wheels on the other car look more like Ford V8 ('40 to '48), but it is a 4-cyl engine.

The bottom photo seems to be one of the Ian Wright Peugeot-engined cars which were driven by Ron Wright and Dennis Cockerell.

Isn't car number 12 Austin 7 based? It has clearly been influenced strongly by the Kay Petre works single seater.

The wheels could easily be post war Austin Counties.

The wheels on car 19 are similar to Austin A40 which are 16". I am going by the hubcap flange and the slots.

Take a look at the website for the Roy Hesketh Circuit in Natal. Plenty of pictures there of car No19, the Peugeot Special. Still no info on car No.22 though. The site only contains images of programme covers, and not the contents (and entry lists) thereof.

From memory, A40s had a 4.25" stud pattern...

No 19's stud pattern is bigger than that. The inlet bulge and lack of exhaust on the left agrees with 203 or 403 Peugeot.
