Hi guys some years a go you guys identified the little sports car here, I have forgotten & cant find original thread so had to re post it, if you can remember again it would be much appreciated.

It's a Berkeley T60 3 wheeler. Anzani engine. Made in 1960. Berkeley were a major caravan manufacturer in the 50s and the car used their expertise in fibreglass along with a Laurie Bond designed chassis.

They had some competition history in rallies and autotests with Ian Mantle, one of their caravan retailers, having some success. he even appeared on TV in the annual "international" autotest that the BBC usually showed.

Lovely period photo. I had a good look to see if there were any interesting cars, but it's mainly standard fodder. The Viva HA reminded me of my first car , an SL no less, which had a side-stripe, wheel embellishers and a glove-locker. Oh the decadence! The only thing I couldn't identify - what's that dove-grey coupe at the front, between the Riley 1.5 and what I think is a Gazelle? In the photo it's ahead of a Minx.

Good call- they made them in a sort of lilac colour. But it looks to be sitting too low to the ground. which made me think it was something more sporting.

Lovely photo Graham ! A real cross section of daily transport back then, the blue Imp looks like it is doing 50 m.p.h parked next to the old Californian ! ( or is it a Standard Vanguard? ) I can see two models that my dear old pop used to have, the canary yellow Classic 375 and the JTW Cortina, a GT model too ! Grass roots motorsport, hard to beat !

Looks more like an early Minx, Sterling, with the L plate on the back, interestingly next to its successor Minx. Is that a PA Velox next to the Imp with the Classic on the other side, with a 101 Victor estate in the forward rank ahead with the Gazelle. Love the maroon over champagne Wolseley 1500 too like my uncle had. Lovely atmospheric photo, Graham.

So who remembers the "Guards" victory parade Victor Estates then? Those guys had to drive the mobile advertising hoardings daily ! Thanks for the IDs Roger, and not an alloy wheel in sight !

If, like me, when you get bored you head for the darker recesses of Martin Krejci's amazing World Sports Racing Prototypes website http://wsrp.ic.cz you come across some weird and wonderful things... like Berkeleys (presumably 4 wheel versions) racing in small capacity GT races in Italy! The GT500 class in the 1959 Coppa Ascari for example was won by a Berkeley. The co-driver is listed as a certain Lorenzo Bandini.

I certainly do remember the Guards liveried Victors - I recall seeing them out in force at the Brands Guards Trophy August Bank Holiday Internationals in the mid 60s. The red, black and white colours were very attractive ( and they were the preferred brand of my parents). Nowadays they would have to be in a plain colour with SMOKING KILLS all over them

A family friend had one of the 4 wheel versions, and took me for a ride in it when I was around 12 years old, quite the noisiest car I have ever travelled in !

Ah, the black car with L plate, the Maroon one a Woolsey, same body shape as the Riley so I was close though muddled once more!

It could be, as the cars were the same bar twin carbs on Riley and minor trim details, but your pic has the coloured panels in a different layout. The L plate to which I referred was the black car twixt Minx and. Imp.
