I have leaned from Steve Wilkinson who was made aware by Eddie Walder that octogenerian hillclimber George Tatham has passed away......

" It is with great sadness that I report the passing of veteran hill climb competitor George Tatham. George passed away at home on Tuesday night, 14th January with his family at his side having lost a two year battle with cancer. As the funeral directors took George away to the Chapel of Rest, his sons fired up the mighty McLaren one more time to sound a fitting tribute to their father's life. With thanks to Tony Wood for bringing us the sad news." - Eddie Walder.

How sad- I remember pushing his Brabham BT 17 to the start line at Harewood when I was still at school  .

Very sad news - George was one of life's characters. Competing against him in the seventies, he was a true gentleman  and always good company. How he managed to fit that McLaren on some of the courses will be forever a mystery!
