Simon Hadfield, Marcus Pye, Simon Arron, Phil Rainford, Alan Cox and Ben Mitchell.

Mostly dominated by the biking fraternity it has to be said, a very large crowd turned out for today's Open Day......

It was standing room only...there was an amazing crowd

There were some famous cars...

Famous bikes...

Famous faces....

And best of all the cafe was open and on fine form. The only problem was that the end of the queue was to be found just south of Birmingham

If there has been any pre-event publicity; unfortunately it passed me by. I wonder how many other folks are in the same boat? Had I known... etc.

There is a, as yet, basic website at  www.malloryparkcircuit.com

And a facebook page at   www.facebook.com/malloryparkcircuit

I do not like facebook but it is a way of getting info quickly.

What I didn't get to find out yesterday was what is the "new agreement" for noise restrictions. - any one know?

I'm obliged to my learned friends, Monsewers Cox and Rainford; I've "bookmarked" the websites and may even start reading threads with "bad news" in the title again. That's if Adolf Putin does not bring the season to a premature end.  :(

I think that was Easter '78, Vin won easily in a strange Historic Race of some sort, with only a couple of B8s for opposition. The poster behind advertises the big event to come...

backing my theory that people will turn up at Mallory to see an opening of an envelope, it was good to see so many there, hope they make a go of it.

It was Fernando who raced the Van Diemen.

Yes it was. He had a big accident on cold tyres and after that went overboard on warming them up before a race. I can remember a Silverstone GP circuit race where he was last out on the warm up lap and spent the next few minutes throwing the car from side to side around the circuit before taking up his grid spot. He probably had put a full events worth of wear on the tyres before the race had even started!

Brings back memories of a British GP, where there where several minor sponsor banners attached to the sleepers on the inside of Woodcote.
Overnight someone rearranged some of them so it read 'Jesus Saves With The Woolwich'

Or the sign outside the church in Liverpool that read "Jesus Saves" & some wit had added underneath "& Keegan scored from the rebound".

Similar to the old joke about the Methodist Church in Liverpool which displayed a sign "What would you do if Jesus came to Liverpool?" and some Liverpudlian wag wrote underneath "Play Ian St John at inside left".

I remember that. I think it was done by some of the marshals following an evenings drinking in the Silverstone Club.

What! Marshals drinking in the Silverstone clubhouse - go wash your mouth out with tepid beer!
Could never afford it myself - had to be content with helping to build a wall of empties on the marshals campsite.

The old Silverstone Club on the outside of Woodcote wasn't that bad and they allowed us marshals in without membership for all but the bigger meetings.

Breakfasts were pretty good although not to Mallory Park standards ..........note how I've brought the thread back on subject  :D

For those of you who were not there yesterday,  Phil captured the yellow TVR (44) & yellow single seater (98) before a big crash. The two impacted just before Devils Elbow. Single seater - slight damage, The TVR severe front and rear damage.

Watching earlier, the two cars had already had a near miss exiting the Esses.

Personally, I'd say three - sausage, bacon and black pudding
