I am helping assemble evidence of a Lotus Super Seven that raced in Tasmania (Baskerville and Simmons Plains) in the late 1960s and early 1970s.  The car was owned by a Mr Lattimer who raced it, and also was raced by Brian? Sheriff later.  I have found evidence in RCN January 1970, April 1970 and December 1970 but am really looking for something prior to end 1969 for a Group O Certificate of Description.  Does anyone have a race programme or perhaps dated photos that might be of use?

Many thanks,

James Calder

I'm at work so unable to check,  but is this car referenced in Marc Schagen's book?

I have just e-mailed Will a copy of March 1969 Gold Star meeting at Symmons which shows the cars entry. Hopefully that will do the trick (along with the Bask Dec 1969 photos he has now).

It is a fish.

I think in this case it is a Certificate Of Description. That is where you research the history of your car and then pay CAMS to rubber stamp it after you do all the work. Also known as a Cash On Delivery.

I prefer the fish.

If you can bear with me I'll contact Nelson Lattimer who I'm sure will assist you.

Just to add to Michael's information on the C.O.D...

It's a requirement for a CAMS logbook for any car in an Historic category in Australia.

Ray, Groups N & S do not require COD's.

Otherwise its a document favoured by Aussies living in Victoria as a wonderful way of keeping cars out of historic racing.  :p

Hi Andrew! :)  yes...that's my understanding as well, just generically eligible....I also believe that even categories where the mechanical and appearance specifications need to be authorised, such as JKL, A/C etc (as delivered/as raced in a particular era) do not ALL have a CoD.

Of course it doesn't include N and S...

These being categories largely for cars built to fit into 'what might have been' classes. Though there are some original cars, are there not? And don't these require CoDs?

well the word according to CAMS is,

Vehicles in groups N & S only require a historic logbook and are covered by vehicle specification sheets.

Sorry Pallas, this has gone completely OT, I do hope you get the answers you are looking for but we need HTPs  (as well as CoDs!) hence my attempt at a bit of propaganda!
