I really don't think anyone can complain about the looks of f1 cars this year. Indycars are just plain ugly
The DW12? She's a chunky girl, but honestly, they really really grow on you.

Jimmie Johnson is the same age as Montoya I think JPM's going to take time to settle in (that and he had some gearbox issues at St Pete).
and (according to the commentators at least, I personally did not know about it) the red tyres are not allowed to be used during testing, so with the wet qualifying the first time he ever used them was on race day

So Bourdais got penalized for not packing, thats a shame since he was running well. I wonder what other oddities are in the rules?
I had another look at this, he did get that penalty for not packing because it took him too long to close the gap when the yellow came out. Background on that is, that he was nearly out of fuel, when the pits finally were opened there was nothing left and he barely made it. A bit harsh to give him a penalty, especially because he still closed the gap to the frontrunners before pits were opened anyway, so no one was harmed

Pretty sure it's because he left a gap when the field was going to green, allowing him to potentially accelerate early and get a jump on the cars in front.

Thanks for the yt link, also got it from racing for me eventually. Fell asleep as it was late here, but cars look and sound good, Will Power is Will Power, and good to see Indycar again.

Is that his GF in the paint-on jeans? I love how she is turned around during the shot, she turns around, looks and gives polite applause.
Hinch needs to take lessons from Colin Edwards II. That man knows how to launch t-shirts.

Anyone else ever get St. Pete and Long Beach mistaken in their head? Even after making the OP and watching practice I was still like "Oh yeah, Long Beach is the track with the fountain".

How times have changed. In the original F5000/F1 days, it used to be Long Beach is the track with the porn theater.

there were fans who had signs they carried, throwing down on the race for being ungodly, some of them in front of the porn theater.
one of them was a self-styled preacher who railed against the heathens.
have pics of him somewhere, i'll have to dig them out and post them for the world to see.

They look like they had two designers, an LMP designer at the rear, and an OW designer for the front.
Yes, now the F1 cars have been beat by the same ugly stick that was used on the IndyCar

Honda leaves after this year to chase the F1 ring again, and these cars are locked in until 2018.
IndyCar is SpecCar after this year.

It's American Honda, and they're not going anywhere.
I think if you had more open chassis regs, you'd probably still end up with the hump ahead of the rear wheels. You'd want to reduce how much of the tire is exposed to the air.

Its the same rule in F1. Vettel got penalized for that as well a few years ago.

Thinking about it now, I thought that St Pete was an... okay... race this year. Nothing really went on other than a couple of smart moves (Neugarten I'm looking at you) and then Will the Wanker going braindead on the restart from probably the most tenuous SC I've seen in a while. Kimball's car was fine, he got it fired up, he just kissed the tyres overshooting his braking.

It's really surprising how little coverage Indycar gets here. Long Beach is this weekend, and there are no Indy stories in the 'motosports' box. Maybe because this is mostly an F1 site, and a British site. But in that box are 3 Nascar articles. Not much love, here. Personally, I think the Indy series is pretty exciting. I sometimes watch an Indy road-race before the F1 race, when run on the same day. (F1 seems to have re-invented excitement this year!)
I do wish that Dario was still racing. And maybe they could someday give Will a penalty for any one of his bone-head moves. Or at least send him out with a broom to clean up his carnage, after the race. But the directors seem to like to see him win...

You mean here on Autosport? I thought they gave it pretty good coverage. There are we plenty of features on the series on the run up to the season. I just don't think there's been any noteworthy news this week. Am I wrong?
