Hmm, Miss Powers appears to have been a well-known Australian music hall artiste of the time. However, I wonder if it was her real name, since 'Fanny Powers' is an eighteenth century Irish jig, written by Turlough O'Carolan

Fanny was a child star who became a singer and imitatrix and had 14 years of vaudeville until about 1912 when she retired to be married.

I was thinking it sounded like the sort of superhero whose films would be X-rated.

Am I the only one who is a bit surprised -- and disappointed -- that there has not been a recent book detailing these events? These events have layers of intrigue and "interest" that simply need to be captured, developed, and recorded so that the next group can have a launching pad a tad better when they starting sniffing and sorting....
Well, returning to this question 18 years later may be a bit too much, but here we go.
I am now working on a website which will take a detailed look at the story of the Gordon Bennett Cup through the years with photos, race reports, news reels, memorabilia. I just registered gordonbennettcup.racing yesterday, ordered the Montagu book, ordered the Paul Simsa book and started sniffing around. I will keep you informed on the progress. Somewhere down the line (possibly towards the end of this year or early next year) there will be a German-language book on the 1904 Gordon Bennett Cup race published.

Do you have access to Rose's Record of Motor Racing, pnegyesi? And Charles Jarrott's Ten Years of Motors and Motor Racing?

I have access to the Charles Jarrott book, which will be heavily featured in our forthcoming book on the 1902 Paris-Vienna race (this will be in English)
I will ask about the Rose book - thanks

I could send you scans of the relevant pages from Rose if you'd like...
The book - even the Autobooks reprint these days - is quite highly valued.

https://gordonbennettcup.racing is now live. It features a report on every race, plus 47 biographies and 16 brand histories. More stories will be added over time. Thanks for your help!
A book celebrating the 1904 Gordon Bennett Cup will be published next year to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the race.

This looks like a gold mine!
If I could make a gentle suggestion, pnegyesi, an old-fashoned text index might be a help, so one could navigate straight to a car or driver rather than page through. More work, I know... It looks great, anyway.

Thanks, it's actually a good idea - thank you. I will do it in the next few days - it will be in the stories section.
