Yes Doug at Moss Vale, a friend from Canberra who is a Morrie mover and shaker knew I would be passing through and said call in...funniest thing I saw was a bunch of Sydney Morries parked outside the oval...evidently, someone took their bat and ball

The light Blue one is a Toyota Tiara i think, our Sports Teacher had one and the 2 speed slush box couldn't get up the Tunks Park(Sydney) hill with 4 kids on board.

Wow, an immaculate Anglie 105E. I had one, which I modified for racing -- 1500 GT engine, disc brakes etc. Totalled in 1972 after having rose joint front end and racing tyres fitted.
I recall when I first got it, it had fierce axle tramp on loose surfaces. Someone flogged me a pair of tramp rods, which initially I thought would be worse than useless, but to my surprise I could give it all the welly I liked off the line on gravel with no axle tramp at all. I was amazed at the transformation.. (Before I went racing of course... i used it in motorkhanas and such).
Some very nice cars in that gallery. I always like the Karmann-Ghia coupe, and the Type 3 VW. Nice to see older Japanese cars showing up in increasing numbers.

The light blue one is a Harry Potter car aka a Ford Anglia 105E. The basis of many a racecar.

OK,a bit big for a Tiara.

Not everone, Dan. That is a nice looking Floride....or as some unkindly called them, "Flouride".

Over the last 10 years or so the earlyJapanese cars have come ,out so to speak and it great to see.
My Favourite was this Morris Van .Mr C used to have one for his Dry Cleaning business in a Ashfield.

As a classic speedway competitor there is a 5.6 diff with semi floating hubs. Very common in later stockcars and earlier Supermodifieds.

Here's some from the HSRCA display that day. Imageshack no longer seems to allow free downloads so have tried photobucket here. Maybe TNF only allows the link - so maybe you might have to click on them individually ... Ed
Yes have just posted this and a simple click on the first one loads it and then use the arrow and the rest come up straight away - pretty simple really - but lacks a visual here unfortunately ...

How many Bond Caltex Sierras are around. One racing here? One there, a couple in the UK? And I thought he ever only owned 2?

Useless info unless you are into classic speedway. Austin A90, Morris Isis, and the J Van all used the same basic style of rear end. But 3 slightly different widths. Big Healey and some Woselys also used that style of centre at least. Ratios are 3.55 3.9. 4 11, 4.4 and 5.6 and maybe a 5.1 in some Js too.
They are light with an alloy centre, quite big 10 spline axles and semi floating hubs. The 5.6s break pinion gears as they are tiny, generally with Chev power running through them!
Axles are fine providing you do not hit the fence sideways too often, then they usually break the outside flange off.
In the late 60s early 70s these homebuilt supermods [and some of the later not so heavy stockcars] used 'industry standard' Austin/ Morris diffs. 95E Anglia front springs, Mk2 Zephyr radiators and Morris Minor torsion bars longitudional in the rear.
The car I have [for sale!] had all of these items. The Zephyr radiator at 51 y/o gave up after being hit [again] by the steering arm in a minor crash.

The one Rod Markland now has (previously Terry Lawler's) is the Real Deal. I believe that there's at least one 'tribute' car in the UK.
