Can anybody tell me the names of famous motor racing brothers, other than the Schumacher brothers. I understand that there are five sets in total, of which three have raced together at some stage of other.

Cheers

What about Jim, Loek and Huub Vermeulen. Jim and Loek are twins, all three have raced several times in the same race, mainly Formula Ford and Super Ford. Fred & Rien Frankenhout, dutch touring car drivers. The Vermeulen & Frankenhout brothers raced in the same team in the 70´s (...)

Tim & Tom Coronel, twins.

Then there is Dick and Jim Rathmann or was it Jim and Dick Rathmann.
Merle and Tony Bettenhausen.
The Colliers, Sam and Miles (I get 100 bonus points for that one)
The two sons of Jody Scheckter, Tomas and Tobie?
Peter and Doug Revson
Harry and Philippe Schell

Jackie's elder brother Jimmy Stewart. Primarily an exponent of sports cars, Jimmy did start in one Grand Prix, in an Ecurie Ecosse Cooper Bristol in the 1953 British Grand Prix.

Fines - true, but he wasn't in F1, which is what I thought the original question was driving at. I tried to list the brothers who had been in F1 at the same time.... (at least year)

Don,

Since we're on the subject of brothers, I'm not sure that Pat Moss would be too happy at being referred to as a bloke !!

Want about Emerson and wilson Fittipaldi? They raced together in F1. I can't see how they wouldn't fit caz's requirements.

Giovanni Ceirano established his own company after WW II and his son Ernesto Ceirano raced Ceirano cars in the early twenties and possibly had done so before. I don't know of any other Ceirano racing in the twenties.

Roberto Guerrero (CO) and Carlos Guerrero (MEX) are not related. The Sperafico brothers are Ricardo and Rodrigo, the Aokis Nobuatsu, Takuma (partially paralysed since his accident in 1998) and Haruchika (double World Champion in 125 cc). And don't forget the third Winkelhock, Thomas!

OK, David, and BTW either Henri or Raoul Trintignant is the father of actor Jean-Louis who competed some times in the Paris-Dakar raid.

Brothers again : the Dobsons (late '1930s), the Ghika-Cantacuzène (early '1930s), the Nanninis (Guido, elder than Sandro, raced in the British national F2 series) and the Larinis (young bro of Nicola — what was his name ? — raced italian F3 in the late '1980s).

And, please don't forget Michel and Jean-Pierre Vaillant !

Sheldon was Steve Kinser's uncle. Bob Kinser (who also raced Sprint Cars) was Steve's father.

There are so many Kinsers, it's hard to keep track of all of them. Karl, Kelly, Kraig, Mark (I know Kraig is Steve's son, past that, I have trouble :) ).

Very good list Jimmy, especially including the likes of the Boss brothers.

There have been many brothers (and for the other thread, sons) of well known U.S. drivers, who never got to the "big time". Hard for me to remember off the top of my head...

Johnny Rutherford's brother Wayne raced Midgets and did some SCCA Club racing.

The Behras, José and Jean.
The Jourdains, Michel, Bernardo, Pio and Patrick (plus 3 others if you count rallying - they ran one rally in Mexico at the same time)
The Solanas, Moisés and Hernán (aka Nanán),
plus the Rodríguez had another brother, Alex who ran several races such as the 1000k of Mexico in the early 70s and then there were several sets of brothers in the Panamericana in the 50s and even a daughter-father pairring which turned out disastrously when the driving daughter, Teresa Paninni overturned the car and the father was killed.

Daughters ?

Patsy Burt was the one of a '1920s Brooklands driver I don't remember the name (Eric ?)

Renée Friderich, the daughter of Bugatti driver Ernest, was killed the 24 February 1932 while doing the Paris-St Raphaël rally. She also had a brother, Paul, who tried to compete in 1946-1947 GPs but for noughts.

It'll be useful if someone with a lot of time with him or her could compile this file (along with the other one on families), building an alphabetic list that we couls fill the gaps of ? (not me, not enough time)

One thing I always wanted to have confirmed: Friderich - is this the right spelling? I've seen Friedrich, Friederich, Fridriech etc...

This thread is a good opportunity for me to ask you guys about the Parsons : can anyone enlight me on all them racing Parsons ? I am only sure of one thing : the Johnnie-Johnny-Johnny III trio. But what about Sportscar great Chuck ? Was he part of the family ? And what about the NASCAR ones : Benny and Phil ? I believe Parsons is a fairly common name in the USA and as I never read or heard about any relation between all them I guess there isn't, but I'd like to be sure...
Thanks

fines, you are right, Parsons is a pretty common name and no, Chuck Parsons was no relation to Johnnie/Johnny. The NASCAR Parsons, Benny and Phil, are brothers though.

I guess I shouldn't mention early 70's Canadian NASCAR driver Vic Parsons :)

Despite being a fairly common name, there have been quite a few Parsons in racing. Not as many as Baldwins, but quite a few.

This might seem a Petty question...

Were they only fathers, sons and grandsons?

The Kellys have got two mentions so far, by the way.

In very much lesser fields we had Michael and David Lance and Ross and Leigh Porter, Ross and Graham Smith, Gary Scott I'm sure had a brother that raced, Ian and Ken Peters, Terry and Peter Cornelius (and their father), Ron and Austen Tauranac.

More famous were Jackie and Jimmy Stewart... I don't think they were mentioned so far?

As for the Bargwanna's i thought Harry and Alf were brothers, i put the question to John as i was unsure. I remember a pic in RCN and i thought it said brothers in the caption but its been many years since i saw the pic....

Although in another thread and partly in this one but far from complete.
Three Whittington's took part in Indianapolis; Bill, Don and Dale.
Pancho Carter and Johnny Parsons jr. were brothers.

And of course a very nice couple of Unsers with an incredible record at Pikes Peak.
Three Unser brothers of the first generation (Louie, Joe and Jerry)
Second genearation: Jerry, Louie, Bobby and Al.
Third generation: Bobby jr., Robby and Jeri (sons and daughter of Bobby)
I don't know if Al jr. and Johnny have racing brothers/sisters.
