Turn points into seconds for the last race of the season.  Driver A has 300 points, Driver B 250, Driver C 200.  So Driver A gets a 50 second start over Driver B, and 100 seconds over Driver C.  Winner of the race is the champion.  So whoever is leading, is leading the championship, whoever is 2nd is 2nd.  No need to work out complex points systems like adding 25 to the score as the maths are all done for you right in front of your eyes.  Simples.

I like it. You win the 19 first races out of 20. In the last race your engine eats crow. You're out.

Just watched the highlights of the 87 Austrian Grand Prix on Sky - What a sad pathetic shadow of itself F1 is these days.

Yep. It's the way it's going. Double points is the start, and look at what the ****** are doing to WRC

I don't like that idea at all.  It gives a better chance for cars to make up positions and for contact in the first few corners.

One standing START is great, series of them no. Less safety cars is the go as so many are totally unesecary. Even after a red flag which the sport never needs a standing restart never seems the same.

Making special arena style final stages where the timing overrides previous stage efforts of each rally. Dicks. Talked about in Rallying thread.

So if my friends say that the F1 is boring i shall say: "Well.... ehm... there has been no overtake and they lift and coast half the time.... BUT LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL SPARK!!!

But it used to be "these cars put out close to 1,000 hp and rev to 19,000 rpm, and sound glorious".   Now it's "they're road car relevant, need an electric motor to get to 750 hp, sound like vacuum cleaners or mopeds, and make sparks".

Ok.

Maybe they could add a device, like in Mario Kart which gives you an artificial speed boost when you get close up behind another driver.

?

Install a travellator on the main straight doing about 150mph, thereby essentially lengthening the main straight by 3 times over ? Have John Fashanu interview the drivers after each racing, with a huge "Awooga" signalling his entrance onto the podium.

These new ideas, they are like synthol in body-building. Disgusting.
