I didn't even know about the QE, so I think you can guess which is more important to me!

I think, both are important. FiA Formula One started in (at) Silverstone (I was there) although I was not present at the launching of the original QE2

Interesting scenario. will Ferrari make amends for missing the first race, will Ron's words light a fire up JB's arse? Will Lewis (not Louis) prevail, Interesting..

Race Week: http://raceweeklondon.com/ (tickets start from £40)
a garden party of F1 cars and all things fast, rev up to attend London’s entertainment epicentre during the British Grand Prix. Thursday 3 July at the Royal Artillery Gardens will feature all the glamour of Formula 1 as cars, stars of F1 celebrate on the six acre site.
F1 cars are the star attraction. Get up close and personal like you’ve never been able to before. Test your skills on the F1 simulators used by the teams and compare your times to the ones set by professional drivers. See the cars being prepped in the paddock before a demonstration to the crowd that puts you inches away from cars doing burn-outs and donuts. Visit a display of some of the world’s rarest F1 cars in the largest Grand Prix Concourse ever assembled. Finish your day off with a lap through the luxury shopping villages and meet old drivers at the Q&As taking place during the day.
I have no idea if either event is any good but I guess its a chance to experience a bit of the F1 atmosphere if attending Silverstone is not an option (and London is).
Edit to add - also F1 testing at Silverstone next week (Tuesday and Wednesday) Both days open to spectators (tickets £25 per day)

Yes, wet racing is great unless you're trackside...
And as long as it doesn't mean driving behind the SC.

I will be in the comfort of my living room. We are back to the 5am races which rock. The other races in more 'friendly' times mess up my schedule.
Hoping RBR is able to take advantage of the fast corners and/or the rain. And a clean weekend for Seb would be nice.

Ahh, it's the official start of the holidays, start of Le Tour and British GP week, sweet!
Stupendously envy of my sister who's in Cambridge and London this week on language trip

Ian Fergusson says Saturday forecast still the same (high chance of AM rain possibly heavy, may or may not last into qualifying time) and Sunday now has a 60% chance of showers for the race, possibly heavy. So basically, after weeks of nice weather (ok there was some rain last week) rain is going to turn up at some point over the Silverstone weekend. Surprised? Not me.

I live about 45 minutes from Silverstone and we've been having some gorgeous weather this week. So yes, it's definitely going to be horrible at the weekend.

Finally, a wet race maybe!
To be honest usually at Silverstone races are only exciting if it rains, the tyres explode or a man invades the track.

it also Rained in 2008

My British brothers and sisters which is more important to you. The 50th GP or the first Supercarrier in British history.
Tough one, given they both cost about the same to get up and running...

Be prepared for 1hr of waiting for the track to dry out enough for inters.
Is Wolff still scheduled to drive on Friday?

Super carriers and trident, just what the UK needs. Don't worry about the NHS or feeding people.
Anyway,interesting article from Renault.

And don't forget the £12,000,000,000 we give away in foreign aid each year so other countries can buy weapons for civil wars. Plus all the other money pi55ed away by the people in charge.
But I'm looking forward to a good race.

My British brothers and sisters which is more important to you. The 50th GP or the first Supercarrier in British history. By the way it's my country birthday also on Friday.
Carriers will soon be obsolete because of more advanced anti-ship missiles .... biggest waste of money next to the F35 (...which we are also participating in pissing money away on).

So, lots of rain. Should make things interesting.
Hoping for something else than a merc 1-2 atleast.

Someone once said that fighters would be obsolete because of SAM's, and tanks because of ATGM's.....
But thats way off-topic.

Really need rain for this one, the new configuration is dull at the best of times, a dry track would put me to sleep in two laps.

Neither did I, and really it's quite a poor design considering the limitations of what can be flown off it.

70% probability of rain on Saturday and 30% on Sunday.

70% probability of rain on Saturday and 30% on Sunday.
So probably yet another wet quali and dry race.
What do we have to do to get a wet race? There were 6 back in 2000....
#42
Posted 04 July 2014 - 08:07
The last thing I saw from Ian Fergusson regarding Sunday was a 60% chance, and if it rains it could be heavy.

Before anyone asks, Pirelli have brought hard and medium tyres to the race.
