Every year F1 officially releases season review. Unfortunately the reviews from 1980-2003 period are only available on VHS, or VHS-rips. It would be really nice to see 80s and 90s action in DVD quality. Do you know are there any rumors to release them on DVD? Or to whom diretly ask this question?

The VHS reviews were marketed by Duke Video, you can contact them through their website. It would be great to have these available on disc, but I´ve seen nothing to suggest this might happen.

I received the following response:

Thank you for your email.

The F1 Review rights owners are Formula One Management, but we do not own, and to the best of our knowledge, no one else has yet acquired the DVD rights for many of the previous years footage to this important programme.

As far as we are aware, no decision has been made as to whether these rights

will ever be sold to a video publishing company, but we very much hope that they will be sold to Duke or another company at some point in the future.

Kind Regards,
Nick

I also asked this on official F1 shop...

Basically Bernie & Co don't really care as there's not hundreds of millions of dollars to be made.

There are potential millions to be made from some sort of online subscription.  Imagine for a tenner per year access to every single second of Grand Prix footage...

If they do, they should remaster them. The sound on that one with the "comedy" bickering couple commentating was awful

Consider the fact that 1970s were released on DVD...

Every single race is not necessary but at least official review. Yeah some of them were short (i.e. 1992) or the comentators were clumsy (88-90) but still it is not necessary to make complete new reviews, it would be awesome but rather not possible.

The 1970s are released as they are not owned by FOM, anything from 1981 and later is owned by FOM. 1970s reviews exist as Brunswick filmed all those races themselves, next to the national broadcaster creating the television feed.

can I point you towards these? www.motorracingdvds.com Whilst not being F1 reviews, some of them do contain newly filmed interviews with the likes of Ron Tauranac and Peter Warr plus some un-seen home movie film, too.
