I'm looking for as many engine bay pics of the Allan Moffat Group C RX-7's as raced between 1981 and 1984 (and 1985 if you count the Daytona trip in the 1984 no.43 Bathurst RX-7) as possible, and in particular any pics of it with the fuel injection setup that was only used on a few occasions.

Going back through all of the Bathurst and ATTC annuals of the time, it would seem that the RX-7 bonnets were rarely open to public display, so engine pics of these cars are few and far between. Being so long ago now and no need for any real secrecy, if anyone has any pic they are happy to share that would be great. Any non Allan Moffat Group C RX-7 engine bay shots are also welcome if available.

Yes he was never known for having anything "open to the public", but then again most others weren't particularly free with open bonnet shots either. The irony is that it was rarely "what's visible under the bonnet" that was responsible for any cars overall speed.

Moffat's RX-7 engine bay in "as raced" at Daytona in 1985 carby equipped trim.

Were the front guards on Moffet,s RX7 ever attached using DUZE fastners for quick removal & not bolts???? The reason I ask is that I remember a RX7 with this set up which I was told was an ex Moffet car.

Have you grabbed a copy of Moffat's RX-7 book (which can often be found on eBay Australia) :

The other source of info might be Autopic. I had a quick look, but this picture from Bathurst in 1981 was the only one I could find with the bonnet up :

Yep got the Moffat RX7 book, all the Bathurst annuals, lots of Racing Car News mags from the time etc, there's a few pics of the carby set ups, but none have any pics of the fuel injection setup occasionally ran on the car.

I was thinking maybe someone had personal pics they managed to snap, unlikely as that is, might be the only hope as I don't think any journo's would have been invited to have a free look and take happy snaps!
