[Dick Dastardly]

There used to be a UK Motor Sport Archive based at Thetford, Norfolk. Sadly the curator / archivist died several years ago [sorry, I can't remember his name]....after that,I believe, it was taken over by MotorSport Vision, Jonathan Palmer's empire. Does the archive still exist? Or is there another archive in the UK?

 

I don't want to research anything, its just I have a load of old programs, magazines, books etc that I want to keep to my dying day.....but rather than my family throwing them out when I'm gone, I'd rather they went somewhere where they'd be of use to future generations, so could stipulate that in my will.

You mean Martin Hadwen (1947-2010) and the National Motor Racing Archive which indeed was taken over by MotorSport Vision just days before Hadwen's passing.

That's the one, thanks.  I used to get occasional emails from Martin but have heard nothing since MSV took it over.

Would the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu be an alternative?

We need something in Britain similar to the Watkins Glen International Motor Racing Research Centre which I visit regularly to further my research. Until we have one, I would recommend Beaulieu.
