What i have noticed in some old racing pics of the 50s and 60s, is that some drivers didn't were gloves (Brabham, Gurney). I just wondered how this could have been 'beneficial'. Maybe it could have improved interaction with the steering wheel/feeling for the car a little bit. But the wooden steering wheels would have become almost impossible to drive with the induced friction and also because of transpiration of the hands it would have been hard to manage it. Some drivers also were gloves with cutted fingers (Brabham, Hulme). But from 1967 on, everybody seemed to wear full protective gloves (also Brabham and Hulme). Because of the rising safety concerns, was there some rule established to ban this (maybe to avoid handburns)?
