As the title, I'm doing some research for a book and would like to contact John Miles, anyone have an email address or phone number?

Ta

Pete

Edit * edit * edit*...

Just to clarify it's John E Miles I want to contact, not John Jeremy Miles.

Thanks and sorry for any confusion.

Pete, PM me with e mail address and I will send it, or at least the last one I had. BTW on the 2 occasions when I have spoken to him, impromptu, he was  delightful.

I can probably ask him directly if required.  Be warned that he doesn't like to brag about his racing career and is particularly reluctant to discuss accidents/fatalities.

I am currently building an autograph and memorabilia collection of past and present drivers for my 2 year old son Jaxon Senna and would love to add John to this. Sorry for hijacking the thread just hoping someone could point me in right direction

Thanks

Which John Miles would you be interested in?  Rindt's former team-mate at Lotus is John J. Miles, but the chap that Morris S is trying to ontact is John E. Miles.

I am intrigued to learn that there were two John Miles.  About 30 years ago, I met someone who claimed to be the other John Miles, but was working for the B.C. Provincial Government at that time.  He claimed that he had raced Elan's for Lotus as John Miles, but that he used  this name so that his parents did not know about his racing.  Would this have been John E. Miles?  I thought at that time that he was probably spinning a bit of a story.  I do not remember what name he was using then.

I remember a John Miles (son of actor Bernard Miles of happy memory) in the VSCC who owned and raced an Austin 7. I think I saw him in the paddock during practice for the 1969 British GP and I did see him race the Lotus 4-WD the next day where he finished a place behind Beltoise in the Matra 4-WD.

There's still an Austin 7 owner called John Giles in the VSCC.

According to Steve Small,  John Miles the Grand Prix driver was the son of Bernard Miles so he must be the same John J Miles.  He raced the Willment Elan in 1966.

That's John J.  My dad spoke to him last week about the mix-up, and he recalled that he and John E. were, for a time, team-mates in the Willment team, which made for a fair bit of confusion.  He is indeed the son of Bernard Miles.

Is John J the guy who drove a Chevron B21 (?) for the D.A.R.T. team in the RAC Sports Car Championship in '71? I always assumed it was but if there were 2 John Miles racing then I could be mistaken.

Yes sorry everybody for the confusion, I did get in touch with John J (Lotus works driver, Triple C scribe etc etc) who was generous enough to forward John E's (raced EM Newman's Unipower GT in '67) contact details, so in the end I spoke to both of them!  Thank you all.

I think Autosport used to refer to them as John 'Turner' Miles and John 'Diva' Miles to avoid confusion. It was the latter ( J J Miles) who became the Lotus driver.( I hope)

At least that worked, whereas a little later the distinction between the John Pearsons who drove Jaguars had to be "steel" and "plastic".

Then there were the John Booths - Butcher and Brolly.
