I hope Ferrari ditch the red. Same-old same-old year after year after bloody year. Boring as hell.
And red = communism. Which is a bad thing.

Mclaren should go matte white with an orange and red circular highlights on the side pods. Black wheels, black underbody lots of black highlights on the car that look industrial.
A throwback to the very early honda liveries, with a nod to mclarens past with the orange. And not a total ripoff of the early 90s cars.

Yeah, but Mercedes silver does a damn good impression of light grey.
Anyhoo, forgive the spoons, but McLaren in a 'chrome orange', 2nd from left? OK, it looks like gold but orange it up a bit, maybe more like half way between the chrome red and gold...

I wish McLaren will forget about this chrome business. Racing cars look ridiculous being this shiny.

If I had a say in the livery I would go with something like this (sponsors aside)
Obviously not mine, BWT's amazing work.
That's a horrible shade of orange - as was the orange used on the test version of MP4-22(?). If McLaren do go orange, it needs to be the burnt orange used on the 12C.

They already have. Cars are red and white. Santander.

This is my ideal McLaren livery for next year, though I guess they'll go with their title sponsor colours, if they get one!

Either one of these schemes if far better than the current livery.

They look really stupid and classless in that silver chrome car. I have seen similar chrome plated cars in Dubai and with some footballers. - awful looking classes piece of trash. I don't know any person discerning taste who will say they love that livery. Thanks heavens they are not into motorbikes - imagine silver chrome bikes

For me, the top one, but take away the lighter silver and add more gunmetal. I never thought the chrome mclarens in the Vodafone era looked too bad; I think this year it is just such a barren looking car sponsors wise it needs a splash of colour to 'fill it in'.

Decided to have a crack at a potential Sauber livery for 2015, seeing as Nasr is bringing along some Brazilian bucks to the team
(The template was made by the user 'aussiemau5' on the former Robsworkshop forum)

Sauber so badly need a new livery and the Banco Brasil colours would look great on a car.

Agree that we're missing a yellow car. The grid really needs some colour, and I hope Mclaren bring back the orange livery now Honda are back (although I know the old orange-and-white had much more to do with Marlboro than Honda). Not a fan of this current trend of painting F1 cars to look like executive saloons in corporate silver or blue.

They have 2 shades of orange. The volcano orange and papaya orange. The one from BWT should be Papaya Orange, or something very close, which would be the same on the 12-gt3 in your post. Of course they probably have more shades, but these are the 2 typical shades they use.
They had an F1 car in volcano orange at the first unveiling of the P1 in Paris.
It's an all-over 'livery' but still it doesn't look that well to me.
EDIT: Nevermind, the one you posted is something different altogether.

That would be an awesome choice for them. Simple yet striking at the same time.

Hmmm not sure I like volcano orange for the F1 car. It looks fine on the road car though. Metallic papaya would be the way to go IMO.
As someone already pointed out, Ron is a fan of the chrome/silver so I guess that'll be staying for quite some time.

Both look bad to me.
The diagonal scheme in the first one doesn't match the car's shape. It reminds me the Catherham of past years.
In the second one you could replace Gillettte with Vodafone and you have the same boring livery they used until now. And the Marlboro like nose... I mean, come on. We don't need another tobacco retro livery, we already have Lotus for that.

THAT's what I meant by chrome orange. That colour with the current chrome would be awesome.

My understanding of the chrome thing was always that after Marlboro left, McLaren were suddenly left high and dry without any brand identity of their own, they'd been so closely tied to the cigarette packet shapes and colours, they had to start again from scratch.
So their intention was not to repeat a situation like that. Silver/chrome/gray, something hi-tech neutral that would match the MTC floor tiles and glasswork. Sponsors would be slid into and out of panels on the livery, never dominating the theme.
Now of course, all that was when the sponsor rate card for F1 and for McLaren was a whole lot healthier than it is now, and after the travails of the last few seasons, and shareholders circling, I imagine Ron would personally paint the whole car light green and sky blue if Movistar requested it.

I think papaya orange goes best with black, so the chrome should go altogether if they bring in orange...

Orange is a pretty ugly colour, i like bright colours but I've never liked orange. A black and orange McLaren would just put me in mind of the Arrows cars from the early 00's.
I expect McLaren to just go with the boring chrome-ish silver again, because the shareholders will probably like it, and that's who Ron's trying to appease. In hindsight (getting all Whitmarshy here), maybe looking like a crap knock-off of the Merc wasn't such a good move.

If only a team pre-dating Arrows in the 00s had used orange as a livery - then this wouldn't be a problem at all!

It's a totally different orange to the one Arrows used. So different in fact that those Arrows' did not remind me at all of the papaya orange McLaren used more than 3 decades before Arrows.
A couple of questions:
1. Can you show me the article that says Ron is trying to appease the shareholders by using a chrome livery? That's quite the claim and some serious inside knowledge.
2.Which chrome Mercedes was McLaren trying to "knock-off"?

I think Ferrari should go back to the Red from 2007-2008. That deep red was pretty nice.

The '02 Orange Arrows was a good livery. As was the '07 Spyker.

Please no. The West liveries were lovel but evr since the 2006 car the Mclarens have looked awful IMO. They weren't bad then but it's gotten so old and boring now. I don't think they'll keep it though. It's a new start for them , so I expect them to go with something different.

the silver chrome simply needs to go...like I said it would be really boring choice to have that.....but Im not exactly fan of chrome orange either. But lets just wait and see which new sponsors there are going to be, cause that's propably going to have some effect to the livery.
Something like that would definitely be my top choice as well, if they went for orange livery!

McLaren really bigging up Orange on their recent tweets. Could we see an orange McLaren soon?
If they do an orange livery I hope they keep it simple and that they don't try and give it some extra pizazz by keeping some chrome
