The entry list for the F3 Macau GP can be found here. It includes 11 of the top 12 drivers of the FIA Euro F3, incl. 2015 Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen. Also, the WSR driver Roberto Merhi, also remembered from his Caterham test, will be driving.

For European viewers, Eurosport will show the WTCC races as usual. And the good news for British viewers is, BT Sports will show the F1, bike, and GT races.

Thanks! Coverage was very bad though...

Why was everyone going half a second quicker in the first sector and then lost so much in the 2nd and 3rd?

A friendly reminder -  WTCC qualifying will be on Friday afternoon (local time) while Saturday afternoon is scheduled for F3 "Qualifying" race and Motorcycle GP race.

Slipstream and traffic?

Are you sure or is that an assumption?

Because none of that was shown in tv, in fact pretty much nothing was shown. Just some guys preparing for their hotlaps or going slowly for different reasons, while the clock was showing there were 3 drivers 0.5s up.  :drunk:  That happened for the whole ten minutes I watched.

So much for Ocon and Verstappen wiping out everyone else... both got grid penalties and they were 6th and 10th in the first qualifying session lolz

Interesting to see Merhi and... Stefano Coletti (??) taking part.

This is still one of the coolest races in the world in one of the coolest tracks.

That got me a bit worried, but this news article says it's only a 2-place grip drop for the Qualifying Race on Saturday. So not all is lost yet :)

Does this track lend itself well to overtaking, by the way?

Who said that?

By the way:

6 - Verstappen - 2'12.811 (First time in Macau)

11 - Coletti - 2'13.066 (already driven there)

19 - Merhi - 2'14.615 (already driven there)

Verstappen is 2nd of the Macau rookies... Pretty fine job if you ask me.

Won't the F3 cars be very different to what Coletti and Mehri have been driving this year though, whilst Verstappen and Ocon will be used to the cars?

So my question is which is easiest/quickest to get used to, a new circuit or a different car? I would expect all to improve throughout the sessions though and I guess whichever is the trickiest to adapt will likely have room for most improvement?)

(I'm not having a go at or putting anyone down, its just a question I have no idea about. Also it seems a bit soon after 1 session to be drawing any conclusions about how the race will go anyway but for a 1st session it seems both Ocon and Verstappen are thereabouts so so far so good for them (except the penalties, anyone know what they were for?)

Well sure that if you look to timesheets just after 1st qualy at Macau you must be right then....

Moreover when you know that Max went for his first time to the track and Ocon went just like a practice session with 10+ lap race stint when he set his time.

last year 2nd race was very messy in the WTCC last year, two red flags last year, 1st one was very understandable but the 2nd one people forgot there were 2 cars in the barrier and almost got a marshal run over

Both titles already wrapped up this year for WTCC. Not sure of other exciting position battles to be had. I hear WTCC might lose it's slot here from next year. If so, I hope the races go with a proverbial bang, so to speak.

Yeah that is pretty good progression through the sessions, I wasn't 100% serious with my previous comment, rate them both very highly

Still not gonna be easy for either of them to win with the grid penalties (though being put only 2 places back is generous), does Macau still have a qualifying race and then a proper race gridded by the first one, or is it just one now?

What has happened to TOM's Macau supremacy? The best TOM's car is Yamashita in 23rd, almost 3s off the pace.

I recall that the main reason Ericsson did a year in Japanese F3 was so that he could drive a TOM's car in Macau, they used to dominate there.

It's mid-November and it means racing on one of the most stupid street circuits in the World. I mean, it's time for the Macau Grand Prix

A first corner that is guaranteed to have a massive race-stopping accident.  A corner so tight that it is under permanent yellow flags.  A track so narrow that overtaking is impossible for over half the lap.  And the rest is so wide and flat out that overtaking is also impossible.  Except braking for the first corner that is of course guaranteed to have a massive race-stopping accident.

Makes Monaco look like Spa.

Yeah, too bad. But he did go from p5 to p2 in what, three laps? So, overtaking is certainly possible.

Actually he got P2 shortly after the start, before the first 90-degree turn (Hotel Lisboa). After that it looked like Rosenqvist (was that him?) was pressuring him, and he made a mistake.

Does that mean he'll have to start tomorrow from where he ended up in classification, i.e. 24th or whatever?

I wonder from the top 5, who did put new tyres in for this race.

Huge difference in pure pace between the Top 3 and Ocon/Cassidy.

The whole top 5 cruised to finish.
