Are you sure?

Because his car was damaged and he is aible to claim the fastest lap with it, as for he is much quicker then Colleti and the others. I thought his performance was stunning as many others did!

Do you mean the car wasn't properly repaired, or was it damaged again in the main race?

All the cars he overtook were 2 seconds or more off the pace of the leaders. So if he hadn't overtaken them, I'd have been rather unimpressed.

Translated: Verstappen stays in his car while being towed away after the startcrash, because he wants to be there at the restart

Was he in a league of his own today? Kind of hard to tell, isn't it, when he started way back in 19th at the restart (not P24) and had to spend the race passing slower cars (some of which must have been damaged in the pileup). He did set fastest lap, but it wasn't much quicker than the best times by the top four finishers.

He overtook 12 cars in 14 laps on a track were overtaking is extremely difficult. Don't forget he's a Macau rookie, unlike Rosenqvist.

His fastest lap was 2-3 tenths faster than anyone in the top 4, it was only 1/1000th slower than his own qualifying time. Rosenqvist's fastest lap was half a second slower than his own qualifying laptime.

Part of the track is narrow and twisty, and the other part is wide with long straights leading to a wide braking zone into a tight corner.

We didn't get to see much of his overtaking, but I don't see how it could be difficult to overtake cars which were so much slower.

and this time the WTCC behaved themshevles, no messy race for them this year

Only simply because there are fewer local "guest" drivers in this year's race. (The big pile-up last year was caused by them too.  :( )

Still there is one too many to Bennani unfortunately.

Wide braking zone ? Most of the straight is wide however the braking zone is in fact narrowed down to prevent first lap crashed as there were too many incidents that drivers tried to late brake himself in the tightest inside line and then crashed / blocked the whole field. Therefore there's only one place to pass in the modern Macau track. Thus IMHO overtaking is do-able, but couldn't considered to be easy.

I've following the gaps in final 7-8 laps. Verstappen has only lost about 2-3 seconds to the winner Rosenqvist for the whole period. While Rosenqvist has clean air and clear track at the front, Verstappen has to follow the slower cars in the mountain and do the overtakings. Therefore to me Verstappen has done a pretty good job on Sunday.

It's quite possible that Verstappen was able to overtake each time before reaching the braking zone. The guys he was overtaking were not very quick.

Rosenqvist was just managing the gap in the last few laps, no reason at all to think that he was pushing very hard.

I think Verstappen will have to do a bit better than this to justify the hype.

 I didn't know we were judging him solely on his performance in the Macau GP.

He doesn't have to do better at all, he's already got a Formula 1 seat.

It was a good recovery from the mistake he made yesterday. Verstappen is obviously a very talented driver, and I'm looking forward to see what he can do in F1. I think I like his mental approach as well as he seems to be quite relaxed and down to earth.

Anyway, it was a good race by him.

In the first lap before the pile up he was in P18 from P24, after the pile up he was put back to P19. He had to confinse the steward to let him race and stayed in his car. For Max his car, who was hit from behind at the pile up, his floorpanel was damaged, the driveshaft was leaking oil and his rear suspension was a little bend. At the end of the race his right rear tire was totally gone. And to do what he did whith that damage is a very good race in my upinion.

And to justify the hype!

Please see autosport.com main page "top ten F3 drivers of 2014" by Marcus Simmons. First thing he starts with is Max Verstappen above Ocon and all the others! It's must hurt to become champion but knowing there is one guy better or higher rated then you...

Erm, you probably haven't read the entire article as Marcus Simmons doesn't rate Max as the number one 2014 F3 driver.

I think he would rather have the Championship trophy than one persons opinion of his ability.

That's correct, and the champion is the no 1 in his rating. But he uses Verstappen as the benchmark thoughout the article. And that for a rookie driver (not F3 but first year in autosport) is very imperssive!
