I thought I´ve expirienced everything when it came to simulators....and I was soooo wrong. After thinking a lot about it, I made the investment and bought a Logitech Wingman Formula Force, and I can assure you, it´s the best investment I´ve made. What a wheel, what a feel, what a force. Everything is amazing, I don´t have words.....

Eli--

Where and how much? My old Thrustmaster T2 has developed a problem with the brakes, so I need to replace it. I'm assuming the wheel you mention is for PCs. If so, please tell me more.

I just got a Wingman myself, as well as an upgrade to a 'modern' pc.
My Wingman is the one with the 'yellow' wheel, not quite with all the bells and whistles as the lastest 'red' wheel model, but it is amzing after years without!
Got mine at FutureShop because I have a FutureShop card, it was $129.00.

Eli, I've been looking and I also read a similar review to yours a while ago. I think you may have sold me although a friend of mine had the Microsoft force feedback wheel and that was pretty good when I took it for a "test". Have you used that one and how does it compare if you have.

One minor prob ... I just upgraded to a PIII 550 mhz with all the toys and I said that's it ... no more capital expendtures on PC stuff for a while. I guess that means my embargo starts after I get the wheel. It's all your fault. H

First of all, Fast One, It cost me around $150 (more or less, cause I´m in Spain), and yes it´s for PC.
Horse: I haven´t tried Microsoft´s but you should visit this two sites to know more about it: www.mgprs2.com and www.force-1.com. They have very good reviews about all types of wheel. I had the same problem as you, I just spent a lot of money upgrading my PC, but I thought it was now or never. I´m a racing maniac and I needed a good wheel, so I thought "Who needs to go on vacation?" ;). Go ahead and buy it, you won´t regret it..

I've got the same wheel as Eli and love it. Definitely beats MS' wheel in terms of quality...the Logitech just FEELS solid.

However, I've heard good things about the ACT labs wheel, I've read several good reviews. And let's not forget the recently announced Ferrari wheel. :)

I went to look at one tonight. The wheel is awesome, but the pedals look like they are for little kids. They are really small and have relatively short travel, at least compared with the Sidewinder. How are they to play with? I mostly play GPL, so I need a lot of pedal sensitivity.

I have sidewinder FF and the only reason I bought it was the pedals, the wheel is just as good as the wingman but the pedals give you much better feel..oh and the shifting paddles behind the steering wheel are better...I think.

My 2 cents

Yes guys, I have to admit it, the pedals are the worst part of the wheel. Short travel and too soft for games like GPL or MGPRS. They are ok if you play NFS and games like that where you go flat out all the time.

Yeah, the pedals are definitely a little weak on my Logitech.

For those that haven't bought a wheel yet, I'd suggest checking out the Act Labs Force RS...highly rated from what I've seen. They even have a very cool separate "H-gate" shifter module. If I didn't already own a wheel this is the one I'd probably get...

I have an old thrustmaster grandprix 1.
It has no pedals but metal spring loaded paddles on the back, with a rubber wheel and is built quite solidly in my opinion.
A bud had a cheapy with pedals that were broken after I spent a weekend on em.

I used the spring loaded paddles for gas/brake and the thumb buttons for up and downshifting.

Those logitech wheels look good, but i bet you could get a regulat thrustmaster w/o force feedback for less than half the buks.
I must admit i have never tried force feedback in a wheel, but suspect it not bo be realistic.

Please Please check out the new Guiellmot Ferrari wheel. i have it and it is amazing. I have tried the Actlabs and the Microsoft and I did not like either of them. If the ferrari was crap then I would have tried the Logitech or got TSW. Luckily the ferrari is amazing.

I am trying a Logitech Wingman Formula for 30 days. Not the force feedback version. I thought it might be a good compromise until a pedal comes out that looks complete. I read reviews of the Microsoft ACT Labs, and Logitech force feedback wheels. Each one seemed to have a major weakness.

Linus, where can I find a review or a picture of the Ferrari wheel?

And does anyone know if GPL supports force feedback. Or if it makes any difference in lap times? I e-mailed Sierra a week ago asking and never got a response.
