Thanks Michael - I'd missed that one when the list came out. As you say, very well deserved.

Good show, but like many such it comes rather late in the day!

Before he joined the Jaguar he was with Lea-Francis until 1951 where he made his own F3 car (the DNC) - he says he only moved because the pay was a little better! It was a Good Move as he'd never have set records or driven at Le Mans if he hadn't and as that linked article says he's still promoting Jaguar

I think we can safely say that Norman's award is not for - as some are - 'Other Buggers' Efforts'.

Some recognition (at least) and two good pictures.

Encouragingly, the local press in Shropshire (he lives in Church Stretton apparently, which was news to me) gave significant and immediate coverage.

I missed this.  I'm delighted at the well-deserved (albeit long overdue) award.

Important Message - please read and donate.

Dear Friends of Norman Dewis OBE,

Our good friend Norman Dewis is not in the best of health at the moment and we are looking at a few ways to help Norman enjoy his time ahead. With this in mind we are creating a Trust Fund for Norman. The Trust Deed has been prepared and duly executed by Hopkins Solicitors LLP in their offices, which are based in Nottinghamshire and the Trust Fund will be governed by the terms of the Trust Deed and the appointed Trustees are John Butterworth and Tony O'Keeffe.

Norman still lives at home by himself and the money raised will be used to provide comforts for him. This will include personal care and home help to assist with housework, laundry, gardening and cleaning etc.

We are approaching many of Norman's friends to see if they would be willing to donate £100 (or more or less) to the Norman Dewis OBE Trust Fund.

Any donations can be paid into the Trust Fund account. Details are NatWest Bank, account number 15094030 and sort code 010085. Please make the reference Norman Dewis OBE Trust Fund.

The funds will be fully audited and managed in accordance with the Trust Deed for Norman’s personal benefit. Any surplus funds left after the death of Norman will be donated to Hope House Hospice. This is a charity very close to Norman which looks after terminally ill children and this is his wish.

Norman is fully aware of what we are doing and he would like to thank all the Jaguar Family for taking the time in doing this for him.

Due to GDPR it is not possible to identify names that this email has been sent to. However, if you would like to pass this on to friends of Norman, please do so.

Kindest regards
Tony
