 recent edition of jp f1 magazine carries article/anecdote about Alonso trying Moto bike at Honda event last Dec, interviewing Honda engineers who were in charge of it.

I dont know if this is appropriate thread but I thought it's interesting so want to share

 

• around mid October 2015, Alonso through his manager asked Honda that he wanted to trial Moto bike
• they rush to make preparation (machinery and all that)
• asked help for Bridgestone to select and ready the appropriate tyre (for the cold December weather)
• at first Alonso wanted to have proper testing run like 1 hour, but due to scheduling issues, that unfortunately didnt materialize, and he only met his bike on the very day of the event (6 Dec 2015)
• They had him have a trial run around the track between events before the main event, alongside a Honda's test rider who lead and guided him (come to think i think I saw 2 bikes coming out on track once between events)
• they were worried at first because it was Alonso's first time ride of Moto bike, but he got used to it v quickly which impressed/surprised them
• He only made 3 laps but they could see on data that Alonso improving each lap. they wanted him to test for one hour as originally supposed
• Despite being his first time and for only 3 laps, he was already doing what only high-class rider can do which is visible on data
• Alonso instantly asked about data as soon as coming back to the pit

There was a lot of reports about the day, it's an annual event , it was a big event over 3 days with quite a few Honda riders, drivers, cars and bikes and some classic bikes and cars too http://www.crash.net...togp-honda.html
