I've been leafing through my 1971 copies of Motor Sport and have come across the report and results from the Jochen Rindt Memorial Race from Hockenheim. What struck when looking at the finishers is that there is a couple of names in there that I've never heard of before or since. They are sixth place man S.Barber (Skip Barber probably?) in a March 711 and also X.Perrot, 11th in a March 701. Privateers? Over to you.............

Xavier Perrot is a Swiss born on 1/2/1932. From 1968 to 1973 he took part in F2 races or hillclimb races where he was a specialist.
The Jochen Rindt Memorial Trophy at Hockenheim in 1971 is his only F1 race. He rent the March 701-5 Ford n°23 to Joseph Siffert. The car was absolutely out-of-date and he finished 11th.
He lived a GP race from the inside as he was in the number of F2 competitors who took part in the 1969 German GP. Can we view that as a GP entry. I don't think so. There were two differents placings, one for the F1 and the other for the F2 class.
Some people said he finished 10th in the 1969 German GP in the Squadra Tartaruga Brabham BT23C/17 Cosworth n°30. I prefer to say that he finished 6th in the F2 class. The F2 cars started after the F1 on the grid.

I think Marc is right about those F2 races during Grands Prix, these were seperate events. It always niggles me when I see stats showing 176 GP starts for Graham Hill and Jacques Laffite, they both had only 175... Not that it matters at all!
