Minardi had a very unique colour scheme on their early years. They used a combination of black and yellow (and white, sometimes) from 1985 to 1992 that made their cars very easy to spot. After 1993, they abandoned their traditional colours in favor of their sponsor's, but when Paul Stoddart took over he painted their cars black again.

This one is my favourite:

Oh yes.

I always loved that scheme.

Hi, first post on this forum  :drunk:

We've seen lots of white Martini liveries, some red Martini liveries, the odd silver Martini livery and even one green Martini livery...but my favorite is this BLACK Martini livery on this Porsche 936 (Nürburgring, 1976).

Sorry given it's your first post, but I posted the black widow a page or so ago... You do however have good taste! ;)

Ooops...Sorry!

I was going to post the Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig" as the worst livery ever, but I saw that you had also posted it!

Anyway, what about the BMWs of the 70s designed by renowned painters?

All the Carling Black Label sponsored cars of the 70s, typically driven by David Hobbs, were outageously attractive if you ask me;

I liked the Brawn GP car because the wheel covers remind me of a geek walking about with black trousers, white socks and black shoes  :smoking:

Was watching the 1994 season review and boy were there nice looking cars> the Williams, the Benetton and the Sauber (all black at the beginning of the season with no sponsors WOW). After changing sponsorship Williams remained cool with the Winfield liveries, especially this multi-colored one from 1999:

I always thought the blue at the back spoiled the 99 Williams. I preferred their 98 livery. Still it never seemed right to have a red Williams.

Benetton 1986 is my all-time favorite. Loved it the first time I saw it and still looks as cool today.

Well, not for a touring car livery maybe, but it's still not as ugly as those F1 liveries.

The '99 Wiliams does look quite nice indeed. I think it's a bit forgotten because the '98 car looked more boring/generic, and the change wasn't that dramatic at a quick glance, in addition to the lacking results compared to the Renault/Newey years and even the BMW era afterwards.

I liked the 1998 Williams, I’ll stand up for it forever. It was such a dramatic difference, that would never happen now (well, unless you count Renault becoming Alpine I suppose), and ‘going red’ was such a weird choice given their biggest rival was always the red team….but I liked the Winfield colours a lot. Both 98 and 99. Such a good era for team liveries. Watching a Winfield Williams battling with a B&H Jordan and a Mild Seven Benetton, with a tartan ribboned Stewart a second or so back….I love the late 90s.

Strange, a video on Johnny Herbert showed up on my Youtube suggestions yesterday.  Lot of detail on his Brands shunt and recovery.

I'm actually a fan of the Winfield liveries myself. And I think it even would have been considered iconic if it had won an odd couple of races.

One of the better recent ones, I felt, was the Andretti Formula E car from this year.  They came up with something that really matched up well with the lines of the car:

Perhaps my 2nd unpopular opinion of the day, I liked it. I can't remember for which race but was I seduced in making a pledge to have my name on the car haha.

Indeed this was one of the worst. But imagine if they had the 2009 car with this livery, people would probably be calling it iconic. I guess the quality of the car sometimes helps in how the livery is perceived. For me, as a JB fan, the mere sight of the earth dreams livery brings back a feeling of disappointment and frustration. Thank God it ultimately led to something great.

It's a cracking livery.

In fact, it good-ness actually make it stick out in field full of messy, nonsense liveries.

That's why I like it so much. One of Motorbase's best efforts if not their best ever!

Let's hope it brings them their first outright Driver's title!
