Will Renault have found an answer for it's problems or not?

Renault claim they'll have that issue fixed for Barcelona. So 2.

i voted for none. i think Renault will not allow themselves another failure even at the cost of reducing the power somewhat.

Good question A3. How long is a race? About 1 and a half hours. Calculating the number of Renaults in the world, I would say the number would be about 200.   ;)

I voted for none, but that poll is just during the race.

I'll go for two failures during practise and qualifying sessions.

I'd agree with 5. Four will fail on track and one of the spares will fail when someone looks at it.

100% They're Renault engines, so each of them are already a fail...

Just to provide some context:

The non-existent Engine Championship:

  1. Mercedes - 243 points (4 teams)
  2. Ferrari - 126 points (2 teams + Manor)
  3. Renault - 35 points (2 teams)
  4. Honda - 0 points (1 team)

Engine related retirements (engine & gearbox); I've listed the ones I've counted, so feel free to quibble. ;)

  1. Honda: 37,5%, 3 out of 8 (Magnussen in Australia, Alonso and Button in Malaysia)
  2. Renault: 31,3%, 5 out of 16 (Kvyat and Verstappen in Australia, Kvyat and Verstappen in China, Verstappen in Bahrain)
  3. Mercedes: 6,3%, 2 out of 32 (Grosjean in Australia, Hülkenberg in China)
  4. Ferrari: 4,5%, 1 out of 22* (Stevens in Malaysia) [not counting Manor in Australia]

Edit: minor correction, hopefully the rest of the basic math wasn't too hard. :p

Is that just race related retirements because it isn't an accurate picture IMO if you have Ricciardo who is on his 4th PU already and not have him listed there at all which would pretty much give Renault at least a 50% failure rate.

True enough, but the question was about failures during the race.

If you can make a list about the 'four engines'-situation that would be an interesting addition to the thread!

Dan's engine failed before he finished the last race so it was definitely "during" the race.

You mean something like this:

Average usage by manufacturer:
ICE      TC      MGU-K   MGU-H     ES    CE
Mercedes      1.125    1.125   1.125   1.125     1.    1.25
Renault       2.75     2.      1.75    2.25      1.5   2.
Honda         2.       3.      2.      3.        2.25  2.25
Ferrari_15    1.5      1.      1.      1.        1.    1.
Ferrari_14    2.       2.      2.      2.        1.    2.

hooooooooooooooooray!!

A friend of mine has a Clio with a motor that lasts even longer than a Grand Prix weekend without having to turn it down, - and it puts out almost as much power it seems.  Hardly cause for celebration.   ;)
