Lost all my bets too, and rightfully so.

Filippi to win a "possibly wet" race at 50/1... what was I thinking?

That bet goes well with your surname i guess... :p

If Montoya can keep his head cool,he can win this championship..

Woohoo, got into the Overall page.

Why in the name of all that is holy I switched my Kimball pick with Saavedra? What was I thinking?

Odd, I don't appear in the Overall standings (there's nobody listed on the 2nd page for that).

Can someone tell me who was wheel banging with Bourdais on pit road? I could've sworn it was Montoya, but somehow JPM was behind Bourdais not much later, with Pagenaud in front. I know I'm kinda colorblind, but thought I could tell the difference between the Penske's.

What's happened to Hildebrand?

Small mechanical issue is what he said on Twitter. He was just gone all of the sudden, after being the invisble man before.

Montoya's Car was red and white and Pagenaud's was orange and white. Most of the race Montoya and Bourdais were fighting it out. I would assume that it was Montoya. I was at the race and I assumed that Montoya with his early pit stop into clean air and track would get him to the front. Did he choke his out lap to lose position?

It was Pagenaud.

Oy.

Except that was the first time anyone actually wrecked at turn 1 in an Indycar race all year. By the way, did you see the 2006 US Grand Prix? Half the field crashed on the first lap so F1 wasn't immune to it.

Why let pesky facts get in the way of an Indy Car bash?

Certainly doesn't stop us from having a good time!

I understand NOLA getting bashed, that was poor. Yesterday was just a racing deal IMO, and the other 81 laps were fine. Shame ABC missed the good racing in the field to follow Power by himself.

I thought ABC had picked up the quality of their broadcasts lately so it was disappointing to see them reverting to normal.

Can't help enjoying Cheever and Goodyear's nonsense though.

Sure, my bad. I meant Lap 1 & restarts, as I've talked about before in this thread. But meh ... T1. T3. Lap 1. Whatever it takes. :MrMom:

But in regard to the "facts" ... Just off the top of my head I remember Helio into Dracone at NOLA T1, and also a fair amount of difficulty just getting to T1 on restarts, with a big crash on the front straight and a couple of incidents of cars not making it around the final turn.

It's not just me. Even the announcers at St. Pete talked about half of the last 10 races there having Lap 1 cautions. Make that 6 of 11 now, as they had another this year.

True, and I've acknowledged NOLA above, but cold slicks into standing water made that a lot more difficult. Dracone was a lapped car and way off the pace so he should have given way. In general the incidents involved rookies (Coletti) or less experienced drivers (Hawksworth).

The early caution at St Pete was for the extremely fragile wing endplates. Which have since been strengthened.

Hardly the same as "they always crash at lap 1" coming from an F1 fan who doesn't actually watch the full races...

1. It was a T1 incident, which you & others said didn't happen, and used to impugn my post based on "the facts".

2. So those endplates just fell apart all on their own? 6 of 11 races there have had Lap 1 SCs. What are the excuses for the others?

It's no secret that IndyCar has a horrible time on starts & restarts on road courses & street circuits. If that doesn't bother you, then more power to you. Seriously. But let's not try to pretend it's something that doesn't happen a lot. For me and some others, it gets hard to watch races that have a significant period with a cycle of SC-restart-SC-retsart...etc.

By the way, did you see the 2006 US Grand Prix? Half the field crashed on the first lap so F1 wasn't immune to it.

Sure it happens in F1 from time to time, but F1 starts and restarts are generally much cleaner than in IndyCar.

I was talking about 2015, which other than NOLA, hasn't seen repeat turn 1 incidents. If you're going to change the subject just to provoke an argument from me, forget it. I'm not taking your bait.

This race had 2 caution laps of 82 and you're still whining after I've explained things to you. What happened in another season is not relevant to this thread.

Have you ever taken time to notice the amount of spacing between cars on restarts in F1 (generally)? They aren't exacty challenging one another too much, so I woudn't expect contact.

Maybe so, but I'm sure you noticed that I said "starts and restarts", not just restarts. I don;t really see that big of a difference between the way restarts are conducted in the two series that should lead to so many incidents in one and not the other. But if there is a big difference, maybe IndyCar should look at it. Or maybe enough people like it that they won;t bother.

I'm not whining. Just observing and explaining my position. If disagreeing with you = whining, then I guess I don't know what to say to that.

First you said there were no other T1 incidents. No biggie. I corrected that. That's baiting you for an argument? Seriously? Ok man. LOL. As for changing the topic ...Not sure where you get that from. I'm merely continuing in the same vein I've been in at other points in the thread. We disagree & will likely continue to do so. Not a big deal in the big picture of things, in my estimation.

Yep, it was only 2 SC laps of 82, but I'm guessing the teams and drivers of the 7 cars involved probably took it a bit harder than you did when their races were ruined.
