Off topic but I've seen bunch of these videos with x axis inverted and I've been wondering why that is.
I think it has something to do with copyrights.
Well, that would be more worrying in fact. They all are accustomed to move their rockets among standing or slow moving objects, way to the grid being the most crowded. Normally they all manage quite well, we'd get a lot of accidents if "calculated it wrong" would happen so commonly.
For the record, I regard it as a non-issue. Understandable frustration, a little childish, so what. If anything, parking at Portier was worse. Thankfully he thought better of leaving his car there and going home...
For what it is worth, no, it is not worse. At the grid you're looking out for people actively, as you expect them to be there moving about and are on crawl speed. You could see the video... there was no one in sight but people around the boards... then someone moved. I don't quite think Hamilton was expecting them to move about in path of an approaching car.
I don't know about the in-lap... i think it is timed... aren't there penalties involved for not making back in time? I think that he may have indeed made it back in time (not 100% certain though) allowed for the cooldown lap. Or some eager beaver would have pointed it out and at the least a token small monetary fine may have been levied.
