To resolve all the speculation. Thats how the team principals have voted

1. Hamilton 35

2. Vettel 22

3. Alonso 12

4. Button, Bottas, Raikkönen 5

7. Ricciardo 4

8. Rosberg, Verstappen 1

Well that's a different picture to the one the OP presented, which missed out the drivers in 4th-7th places plus MV. A rather significant omission...

I'm not one to be critical of polls and at the end of the day at least this top 8 would have the majority of the fans top 8 in it I would have thought - to my mind with the obvious exception of Grosjean for Verstappen - at this early stage.

One observation that I can't ignore is yet again the effect that recent memory/events appears to have on rankings, for these rankings do not match with the Team Principles own rankings over recent seasons.

 I didn't miss anything, I posted all the info available in the link I provided. They didn't have the full list to begin with.

Lewis had a lot of bad luck but don't forget Button didn't.

Button had his share

He was on for a 2nd place at Italy, but retired due to a mechanical fault. Kobayashi took him out at Korea during the opening lap. His car suffered difficulties at Austin during qualifying, which meant he didn't make Q3. He also had an exhaust failure at Bahrain with only 2 laps to go. Lewis had far worse luck/reliability, but Button's year was hardly clean.

In contrast, Alonso had a much easier year on that front.

No probs. You got your information from an german site, they're just interested in who the best drivers are (Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel) und where the German drivers (Rosberg) are ranked.

Having watched the majority of the GP's recently (2005-2015) my order would be:

1. Alonso - so many legendary drives and great consistency in all his career (2003 Hungary, 2005 Imola, 2006, 2008 the whole season, 2009 Singapore, 2012 whole season, 2014 Hungarian GP, British GP,  2015 Spanish GP)

2. Hamilton - lacking the consistent package of Alonso. Matched by Alonso in 2007, Matched by Button more or less in 2010-2012, Rosberg matched him in 2013, but killer years in 2010, 2012, 2014 and looking in form in 2015

3. Vettel - always consistent and amazing bar 2014, too early to judge

4. Button - incredible 2009 and 2011, not always on form and narrow operational window

It's team principals voting for the car. If Alonso was in the Mercedes, we would be the first. In fact, I'm surprised that Alonso is third. Has Hamilton ever been in a bad car?

+1

Totally agree...everyone is voting the car, not the driver, that gives me an idea of the IQs of the actual team principals

Interesting. I tend to give the present a little more weight and would rank Hamilton ahead of Alonso, only because I am not 100% sure Fernando is fully covered from his testing injury. The current status of the McLaren makes it difficult to judge. If I am looking back over the last 10 years however, I would agree with your first 3.

Whether or not Hamilton will convert to Islam.
