Wohoo! E1470 something.

Skill level doesn't seem to improve much since I want to just drive and not much set up my car yet. I've driven mostly default cars, only adjusting steering rack close to my liking and amount of fuel I need for race. Skilled and those fellows who set up their cars are murdering me at fast tracks like Le Mans.

After 97 online races my fair meter is still green. I've not caused accidents, but my car has got some hits by other cars. One rammed me so good he got disqualified.

Some random stupidies by rookie me of course has hit fair rating: One event I qualified nice, but forgot gear 1 on and that caused a jump start and drive through penalty. One another decent race which had mandatory pitstop I did well till my pitstop. I did switch pitlimiter on but I was not able to slow down enough at pit entry and I got time penalty of 10 seconds due speeding on pitlane. To make it more worse, I overshot the stop and had to reverse 1 metre back. Random spun at there and here won't help much either, but I'm learning! :D

Funny...I was browsin various tips for this game and found Logitech G29 setup video from youtube. Recalibrated wheel in game and tweaked a little. I was quite stunned how much feeling improved.

I recommend players recalibrate wheel after every patch they put into this game. My last calibration was done somewhere in autumn!

Which one? I've been using Super GT's settings but I'm not sure if I like them or not anymore.

Haven't had much time for simracing lately, but had some more fun with the RX cars in PC2... First i tried the ice track, then i went for some "hooning" on the "California highway" track...

Sideways might not be fast, but its quite fun :)

Don't bother. It has a bug, the turbo doesn't work on a few of the cars so 400 not 800hp.

I noticed that on the Porsche 959, I was testing it out at Hockenheim thinking 'how does this get to 200mph?' before noticing that the boost gauge on the dash wasn't doing anything...

Silly errors like this still keep slipping through with SMS... its a shame because the game itself when everything is working is utterly fantastic.

Ooh? It has 959?  After Test Drive 2 and, Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed was next game that car was available. In NFS that car was very terrible though.

Edit: Now I've tested it. Car indeed has some bugs for wheel's force feedback and no enough power. Otherwise quite pleasant car to drive.

Generally how many people race online on the ps4?

Is it quite active or not?

You can find lot of people driving at there. However lot of people seem to drive GT3 class so if you seek some historic GT racing, you may not find any unless you create one.

To be fair, even on the PC, the vast majority of servers are GT3. And that's pretty much the case for most sims unless you join a league.

I have to say, I've been pretty critical of PC2, but with the latest update, it's finally stable enough for me to bother digging in a little further. It still seems to have the issue where around half of the cars have physics that would be embarrassing in a Forza game, but when they do get it right, it's absolutely glorious.

so i bought the "Porsche pack"...

Some interesting cars, and overall im pretty happy with the DLC, but there are some less interesting cars, and the porsche "test" track is probably best to use as a hotlapping track. Had a go in the 911 RSR 2.8l at Nurburgring at night, and after a misshap on the first start, with som funky physics,  i restarted and did a nice climb up the field, before i mad a mistake and did not recover properly. Was fun though.

man you were working hard.

With the Thrustmaster TS-PC wheel, manual gears and the oculus, you do tend to get a bit sweaty after a session of driving :)

The oculus gets a bit hot, and i do get a bit fatigued using for more than an hour continuously (probably a bit down to having a slight variation on my eyesight where the right eye is a bit near sighted), meaning I get a slight headache, but it is worth it by far as you get so much more involved in the game. Don't think it makes me a faster or better driver though :p

I think he meant overdriving it, sawing away at the wheel constantly.

Overdriving is how i drive simulators :p  When playing GPL back in the day, i made pretty good "hotlaps" in qualifying, but come the race and i could only keep the speed up for a few laps before my rear tiers where melting away. I remeber a few GPL league races where i was on pole, had the fastest lap of the race, and still finished 8th or so due to reversing off track more than once  :)

The Ferrari 488GTE at the glen.. now with less "hard work" :p

The ferrari 488gte was pretty stable with default setup (a little less fuel and reduced TC). Pretty good turn-in, and a (relatively) stable rear end. Not really a fast lap though, but it was from the first "session" with this car (a 20min stint) so there should be more time to find..

Maybe it's because I'm not that good, but the 'opposite lock assist' has transformed the game for me. It makes the cars feel far more stable, more 'weighty' whereas in the olden days they just seemed so horribly twitchy, especially things like the LMPs. I actually really, really rate this game these days - probably over GT Sport in all honesty. Both are great though.

I haven't had time much to play this recently due working far away weekdays. Since working includes also fair deal of driving, I'm not first to hop into car racing games on free time.

Tested PS4's patch 5 with Porsche 959 and was pleased the turbo works finally. Not tried it with wheel yet.

It's a better game than gt sport in nearly every way except the ui is a mess , the cars were too twitchy and bugs...so many bugs.

Gt sport is greater but it's a horrible driving experience.

The Le Mans DLC and Patch 6 were both released yesterday.

https://www.youtube....h?v=43fnb2edIEw

I'm thoroughly enjoying it.  The vintage Le Mans track is hugely evocative and seems beautifully modelled (they apparently used McQueen's Le Mans film for reference).

Trying to squeeze that last 1mph out down the Muslanne and not to scrub speed at the kink is quite fun.

Regards Mike

Thank God the new LMP cars are in their own class, we can finally get rid of LMP1 fields made up of fictional cars with stupid cartoon liveries. Audi v Porsche v Toyota, the way it always should have been. I like this DLC a lot. Maybe vintage Le Mans isn't quite as exciting as I'd hoped, but it's all about the cars for me this time.

Mahelgel,

My wheel become quite wild with Porsche so I had to downtune force feedback.

Annoying bug related on night time driving. At least Ferari 512 had no headlights on during replays.

I noticed the 924 had pretty forcefull feedback, but my biggest problem was getting a good start with out it bogging down due to the turbo lag, and generally keeping it in the powerband of the turbo :)

Very engaging with the oculus when driving with a manual h-pattern shifter/clutch, and blipping the throttle when braking and downshifting not to upset the rear end...

Love the old cars in PC2, newer stuff perhaps not so much, but that goes for all the sims i drive. There is something about a h-pattern gearbox and the low aero factor with those cars. Suits me better than modern cars where you really lean on the downforce to get you around the track.

Picked this up in the current PSN sale, it's fun but I must say I'm having a nightmare of a time trying to get a controller setting that's not either ultra sensitive or has incredible understeer.  Yes I'm using a standard PS4 controller as I refuse to buy a wheel (I own a nice wheel, a Logitech Driving Force GT but Sony decided not to support it on the PS4 ..gits..)

Have tried following 3-4 guides online and it's better than it was but it's still not comfortable to drive for more than 7-8 laps as I feel like I'm constantly on a knife-edge and liable to lose it, even going straight!

I've been put off GTS by the fact most (in not all?) races have rolling starts (single player, not online).  I know it's minor but I am not a fan of always starting from the back and chasing the pack.

My issue with GT Sport isn't starting from the back, it's that the grid order is always the same and that you can't separate the Vision GT cars from the real world ones, compared to something like Project CARS 2 it's pretty useless if you're looking to set up something that resembles a real life grid or real series. But the racing itself.....it's not perfect by any means but Gran Turismo games always feel right somehow. Project CARS 2 is good, but I love the tight, weighty feeling of driving in GT.

I just like the seamless and fast matching, regular close races. I am literally doing 3 times the races in a block of time on GTS than PC2.

So, there was a new DLC...

https://www.projectc...ssentials-pack/

So a few new ferraris, and 2 tracks (Mugello and Fiorano)

Had to try it, and the 355 challenge seemed like a very nice car for a "spec race", and the F40 was pretty cool to hotlap around Mugello (understeers a bit, unless you have the engine on boost, then it oversteers). Also the Ferrari 458 speciale was pretty fun. Oversteery, but mostly manageable. Did a few laps of Imola with nvidia shadowplay recording :

So, after a long time with out using my sim racing "rig" (been way to busy lately), i fired up Project Cars 2 and the Porsche 911 GT3 around Nurburgring... Felt great, even though the setup is stock (only turned down TC and ABS and a bit less fuel than stock). The gt3 has so much grip out of the turns compared to the older cars i usually drive in simracing. Also, the sequential paddle shift makes for a less hectic environment when using the Oculus rift, and tonight that was a good thing as i've been running a cold and fever the whole week. Still, got pretty warm and sweaty after a few laps :)

Managed a 7:01:94 from standing start, not half bad considering i have not really driven that car much in the game before:

The Ferrari FXX K is good fun. It has some driving aids by default, but it's still quite willing to break out. It's also nice to contrast with some of the proper race cars, as it is quite light on downforce and doesn't really want to turn when you get it up to speed.

Project CARS 3 looks less appealing with everything I read about it. Far more arcadey, no tyre wear, no pitstops....none of my money either. Enjoy PC2, it looks like it’s the last one like it.

Yeah, seems they are taking a wrong turn in their development...

If you like PC2, Automobilista 2 is based on the same engine, but with different content and tweaked physics... i think it is a setup up form Project CARS 2 in terms of handling and feel, but perhaps a step down in content - depending on what content you prefer. I love the "older" f1 cars in Automobilista 2 (v12, v10 and some old turbos) i.e. but i don't really enjoy the "stock" cars from south american racing series.
