The annual Uraidla Hot Rod party was today, 6 12 15. Weather was against it as the metro forecast was for 40 deg. Though anyone knowing the hills would realise it would about 5 deg cooler there.

The numbers were a little dissapointing for the organisers but everyone had a good time.

The oval is very well 'treed' so there was plenty of shade for all.

Anyway, I again have an amount of pics. Hope you enjoy.

Red seemed to be popular

1 Hotrod

2 Ford F truck

010.jpg012.jpg014.jpg017.jpg015.jpg011.jpgThere was a collection of Nostalgia drags and just restored cars of the period.

Pic 1. It is a replica BUT has the original people still around it. They have been running 1/8 mile country tracks. Peter Hines is driving it and Chris Parry is driving the Wynns Munster below. The originals of these cars both date back to Brooksfield in the 60s.

Pic2 The Rolly Leahey dragster from the 70s. This car is original the modded for current rules. Low 10s in its day.

Pic 3. The Brian Hutcheson Fiat altered. This car lived over the back fence of my high school. seemingly where it was found recently. Again original.

Pic4 PA Vauxhall Cresta. I know nothing of this car. Beam axle and s/c Holden red 6. [Pic5]

Pic 6. Pickup2. A model ute, A LOT more modern with a blown big block Ford.

Pic 7. The Wynns Munster FJ. Again a replica. See above.

The two FJs, Hutchys Outlaw and the Leahy Dragster did feature in magazines etc in their day. Outlaw was a cover feature.

All Adelaide cars 60s and 70s.

202 Holden. Not 3.3 Vauxhall. By now I probably know the difference!

Did you get a closer shot of the Fargo?

And is it original?

No and No. Though later on a Desoto ute drove by that was. Complete with growly manual gearbox.

There was a 53 or so Chev ute that was modified original too. twin carb 6 with dress up bits and widened steel rims. It escaped before I took its pic.

Was the De Soto ute a dark-ish green?

I recall that one of those lived in Adelaide...

When I see that Riviera I always think how sad it was that Buick was not in NASCAR back then.

They had  aerodynamics at least as good as the later Ford and Dodge aero specials.

004.jpg032.jpg035.jpg034.jpg021.jpg006.jpg007.jpg033.jpgThere was several old style rods there, true 70s survivors.

And the inevtable old style inductions too.

The 34 Chev complete with house was registered in 73, and the builder still drives it,, everywhere. On his way back from Mildura in the pic but since he retired has been all over the country. North Qld, WA, etc etc.

It was built with a 283 Chev but has had a Fiat, Holden 6s, 253 or 6 and its current crate 350 Chev that has now done nearly 200000km.

And the there is Tattoo!  A true individual, both owner and car.

A few more.

I like the little Prefect ute.  Look at it to realise the number of mods, roof chop, doorhandles, widened guards etc. No idea of power, Modern 4, Holden 6?

Though this lot are all very nice Rods.

The one on the bottom though is confused,, dirt tyres, Halibrand knock offs,  yet the obligatory front mounted small keg for a fuel tank Dragster style. Nice car though and Buick power instead of boring [though very functional] Chevs017.jpg018.jpg036.jpg026.jpg028.jpg032.jpg

019.jpg041.jpg038.jpgThe last. A very nice XC Falcon Rallypack ute. K code=351. finish was better than Ford 38 years ago.

Big Mopar with fins and the Super Sport Impala both a bit shade dappled but very nice.
