I quite like Ferraris new marketing approach since the beginning of last year.

Absolutely agree.  Some top notch digital campaigns going.

Pushrod or pullrod? That's all that matters.

Some more info from that Autosprint article answers your question - both  :p (rear pullrod and front pushrod)

(are autosprint ever right - is it just their guess work or do they actually have real info from Ferrari??? I'd guess at the former)

I'll beleive it when I see it. Reverting back to the push rod front layout has been commonly spoken about for a number of years now in the off season...yet it is a reality that has not come to fruition.

Not car related but I'm Lucky enough to know the Chief Mechanic of Mercedes who popped round the other day and dropped off a signed Vettel cap (load of other Mercedes Gear too but meh!!). Had a quick chat with him and he seemed to be of the opinion that the engines are basically even now but they think they still have "a few tenths" in the chassis. See how the season goes I think but we could certainly be there or thereabouts.

I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they both have indentical front ends.

Its already been said that the two cars will be almost identical. They were working in the tunnel together on both cars, the only way they truly benefit from that is if both cars are basically identical. Hence why Merc seemed clarification about new teams in the tunnel and personnel from other teams helping. For a Ferrari

How can this be when we have Gene Haas on record saying;

"I think our chassis is going to be substantially different in construction from the Ferrari one, because we're just doing it separately," team owner Haas told Sky Sports.

"We think our chassis in some ways will be better than a Ferrari chassis because we're using some more… I won't say state of the art, but we're taking a different approach than Ferrari is and we think it's probably a better design.

"The Ferrari is more conventional, they're going to stay with what they've been doing for a number of years."

You know that saying, that it must be true because it was on the internet....

I believe he said that before it came out that they were basically sharing the tunnel if I'm not mistaken. Could have been simply a diversion tactic or him just talking his team up. But if you read the speculation from online sources that have good sources at Ferrari like Piola and others, they state the two cars are similar. Also for Merc to get all up in a tizzy and request clarification from the FIA, they had to believe Ferrari were gaining an advantage, which they were. But why? Because what they were mutually working on, both of their cars, things had to be similar IMHO

Edit: Haas made that statement on Nov 6th. Merc sought clarification from FIA on Nov 28th.

Hopefully Piola is confirmed correct and Ferrari do use variable length inlet trumpets. That's one advantage the Merc PU had over Ferrari in 2015. The switch over will provide more speed for the Ferrari PU compared to 2015..

Really? Ferrari didn't use variable inlet trumpets in 2015? Even Renault had them, as they were allowed by regulations since 2015.

They might as well have identical launch dates too.

Something new, @scarbsf1 imagining the Ferrari 667 in @autosprint magazine

I don't get why merc does not have a "penis" extension while all other short noses car seem to have it. What is the reason behind this? I sure hope the new ferrari nose does not look like the picture above (except if its fasther than the new mercedes  :p  )

From the link it says component placing prevented variable length inlets. This will be changed for 2016.

I hope the 2016 car's nose will never be like that. Last year, i thought the Scuderia had the most beautiful nose.

It's a 10 days old article and written in Italian though. Google translate works well.

I agree with James Allen on pretty much every point. Especially on the last one recently.

Its quite clearly last years nose, so either they didn't adopt a short nose, or I have no idea what they're announcing.

Besides the obvious fact that it's way too early for a car launch, I don't think they'd call it 'something unique'.

#ReadySteadyRed means there will be some kind of competition to me.

I think that Ferrari will offer to the fans the possibility to design the livery of the 2016 car.

Yes definitely.

It can't be the chance to design the livery, surely... with just a few weeks until it will be revealed. There just isn't the time.

As evidenced by some of the quality work submitted in the fantasy livery thread there is plenty of time. The question is why would you want to change the livery of an iconic brand?

also they could do testing with a simple red paintjob, and reveal the winning design in melbourne.

then again I don't think it is likely either.

okie-dokie. it seems like it is a sort of point collecting game via social networking, and the top10 participants will be taking part in the actual car launch sometime in february.

You're not thinking it through.

Creating a livery is so much more than some talented people submitted very appealing designs in thread on this forum.

Entrants would have to be aware of sponsorship deals new/existing deals and placements. They'd need to be aware of the car design so their entries could flow along the cars lines and shape.

It just couldn't happen, not now or with more time. It isn't feasible.

Helmet designs yes, car design no.

Edit: Also isn't the Ferrari livery still owned by Philip Morris? Or something along those lines.

My goodness, how pathetic.

It's simply a game of who can be the most annoying. A sophisticated spam-fest. A random prize draw would've sufficed.
