Is it impossible that it's Hart himself? Looking at his signature I can see similarities... true, not many.

My first thought was Brock Yates.

Edit: If you Google "Brian Hart racing autograph" there's several more samples.
The above does not look at all like any samples.

If you Google "Brian Hart autograph," there's a sample signed print.

That might mean it's genuine.
I get very suspicious about autograph sellers on the Internet. (anyone remember the autographed copy of Champion Year?)

You sure that's an autograph? Perhaps someone trying out his pen, "ah, yes, this one'll work..."
You've seen my autograph.
Tell you what, it is a heck of a shock the first time a kid passes you a pen and asks for an autograph.

Yes, in fact I think it is Brock Yates, checking to see if his pen was working before writing in his notebook...

I never knew you looked so much like Clint Eastwood. ;-)Tell you what, it is a heck of a shock the first time a kid passes you a pen and asks for an autograph.

Good theory indeed, you can see the pen running out of talent on the downstroke of what could have been intended to be a "k" and finishing with a squiggle of inkless rejection. "New pen, anyone?"Yes, in fact I think it is Brock Yates, checking to see if his pen was working before writing in his notebook...
OT, Brock was great. North American fans should remember his hosting a motor sports show on The Nashville Network called "American Sports Cavalcade," covering everything from Trans-Am and drag racing to motocross and swamp buggies. It was charmingly co-hosted by Steve Evans, but sadly Steve was taken by cancer far too young. Fabulously-entertaining commentating.
Apologies for the derail.

BenR, just so you know, that is not Brock Yates' autograph. My father had a distinctive angularity to his signature not seen on the one you have.
Sorry.

Concur that "American Sports Cavalcade" was a wonderful show However, Steve Evans passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in a Las Vegas hotel room while in the city to cover a race. Evans was primarily involved with drag racing in just about every capacity: announcer, drag paper editor, public relations, promoter and track manager. He came up with some very clever racing events. He truly had a fascinating career.
