RALLY FOR LIONS

Included for the first time in the list

of events qualifying for the French

Touring Championship, the Rallye des

Lions was held under the most rigo-

rous conditions over the roads of Nor-

mandy. Snow and ice throughout the

200 miles of secondary lanes resulted

in everyone being penalized, and vic-

tory went to local boys Heyndrickx/

Godfernaux in a T.I. Alfa Romeo.

The favourites were unlucky, for

Claude Storez, who still leads the

French Touring Championship, ditch-

ing his Porsche, while Georges Houel

had to give up after colliding with

another Zagato Alfa Romeo. Best

time up the hill-climb at Domfront was

put up by Storez and Georges Houel.

Jaques Vidilles in a 4CV Renault,

won the 750 c.c. class, while the

1,300 c.c. went to Burlat/Dourdon.

A JAGUAR driven by the Parisian Le

Guézec and Hébert carried off the

through most of the 16 hours durat-

ion of this event, which included a

hill-climb at Tannois, where Le Gué-

zec made best time. Class winners

were Dagonet (2CV Citroen), Thaon

(4CV Renault Alpine), Gille (Simca

Aronde), George (Alfa Romeo) and
